when i had my subs installed by a shop a few years ago, they drilled a hole through the firewall just below the brake pedal mounting area and ran the cable under the carpet to the driver's side rocker panel.

Ok don't run your wire through the fender!! Not a great idea, with current in consideration. Also I beleive that is a run off for water in most of our cars so that is aslo scary. Not to mention someone dents your fender and shorts your power wire right off your battery.

In my car the is a hole just up from the clutch arm. I am the 3rd owner so it could have been drilled. However that area is great, if you are auto there should be a grommet in that area not used. That area is good because there already is peices running through the fire wall. Which usually means there is nothing on the other side.

If you drill a hole yourself, use a step down bit, and make sure you will not come in contact with anything on the other side. After that make sure to install a gromet there to protect your wire and not allow the elements in and rust your ride.
Good luck!

^^^

Holeshot, a lot of us run the wire through the fender, there's no more moisture there then in the engine bay where the battery is.

Furthermore, no 'runoff' goes through the rubber grommet. It's a WIRING GROMMET.

Folks who haven't done this please lay off commenting on it, this has long been known as the best way to get a wire through into the cabin, and a bit of moisture isn't going to work its way through 1/8" or 1/4" of rubber sheilding on the wire.

It's way up in the footwell, tough to see. I believe you have to take the side plastic off on the footwell to get at it, but I may be wrong about that.
