they make a high pitched noise because the transformer that neon lighting requires emits a noise after it steps the 12v in your car up to 3000volts.

Same thing happens with my reverse indiglo gauges from AOS racing. It's not that noticable.

eh... I like the interior of my car dark when I drive.. I even keep the gages as low as the dimmer will allow... less distracting to these old eyes.
