I'd say with as many peeps with tons of knowledge on this site, you might, maybe, be able to make the right decision. But hurry man. My set up was just like yours a lil while back. Stock batt. no cap, dimming lights, eventually headlights dimmed.

Let me ask you something, ever been driving on the freeway at night, and literally watch you car die while its running? It's scary. I had to shut off the lights just to get to the next exit. SCARY. Then my alternater just gave one last "uh..." then died. Alternators will run you about as much a nice optima and a cap. Figure it out yet. Oh and I don't know if you should get if from the shop that's feeding you all this BS. I really don't think yellow tops are the best anyway. GET A CAP. I waited too long, dont be dumb. Oh and get a Blue top like me, hehe

Do you guys think this would do the trick?

I have 600W Lightning Audio Strike Amp and a 15" Lightning Audio Strike Sub.

i ran the optima blue top and the 1 farad cap in my accent with a 14-1500 watt amp, no dimming at all.

I moved this system over to my civic, minus the battery and it dims from hell.

btw, the system is in the ****vic to make room for the new stereo and im stripping my interior so its easier for the shop doing my engine swap.

yep...and you get to see the voltage going into your amp...nice!! another positive...is if you have your stereo up and going for hours you can see what your voltage of your battery is!! i used ot work on a farm...and iwould open my hatch and have it blast for hours!! i love it.....i had a dual battery isolater with a second battery but the digital read out will tell you when your getting low!

I just put a nice fusebox and 2 24K gold plated termials to match. I notice on the cap now the reading only bounces a little bit at a time? I guess gold is a good conductor or what?
