This thing is getting real confusing real fast!!

Okay,JAWS.......................If your DVC subs have coils that are 4ohms each and you wire the coils of sub A in parallel then the total impeadance for that sub is 2ohms.And that is why your amp is tripping out.You can't have a 2ohm sub bridged to that amp.So,wire the coils of 1 sub in series and you will have a total of 8ohms.Then bridge that just as you had them to begin with.But now the amp will be happy.Don't just disconnect one ove the coils.That's kinda pointless to only use half of a DVC sub.At that point you may as well sell the DVC's and get normal SVC.

If you are bridging channels 1 and 2 for one sub, and bridging channels 3 and 4 for the other sub, then you only need 1 set of RCA's.Basically, you can call or consider ch's 1 and 2 as your left sub ch, and ch's 3 and 4 as your right sub ch.So you connect the left RCA to either ch 1 or 2 RCA input,and the right RCA to either ch 3 or 4 RCA input.

Did I finally figure out what you are wanting to know???

Thats how i have it wired
2 rcas
1 is hooked up to channel 1 the other to channel 3
Im using the positive wire on the channel 1 side (going to speaker A)
Then the negative wire on channel 2 (going to speaker a)

Same goes for the other side

This is the way it should be,so what's confusing about it?????

Eeeuuuh, Madtib, please correct me if I'm wrong :
- A 4 channel amp = 4 x RCA and 4 x speaker (+ & -)
- Each RCA in gives an speaker out.
- Bridge an amp = using the positive flank of one channel and the negative flank of another channel on the speakerterminals. If You on this case only connect one RCA channel, where's the second channel get's his input from ?

You have a 4ch amp.The amp will either be divided up as front and rear,or as with Alpine, ch's 1 and 2, and ch's 3 and 4.If you bridge ch's 1 and 2,that's now one ch.If you then bridge ch's 3 and 4,you now have a 2nd ch.So basically,you have turned a 4ch amp into a 2 ch amp.Now,you don't need a total of 4 RCA inputs.You only need 2RCA's because you only have 2 ch's.Do you understand???

If you were to take that 4ch amp,and use the front ch's(1 and 2) as normal stereo, then bridge the rear ch's(3 and 4), then you'd still have to connect a total of 4 RCA's.

Is any of this making sense?????

I understand and it makes sense... but this only works when you can set your amp to bridged/not bridged or when the amp feels the bridged output and connects internal the RCA channels. Otherwise it will not work :

1 RCA => +/- AMP => +/- speaker 1 = not bridged = ok
2 RCA => +/- AMP => +/- speaker 2 = not bridged = ok
1 RCA => +/- AMP => + speaker 1 = bridged and
2 RCA => +/- AMP => - speaker 1 = bridged = ok

1 RCA => +/- AMP => + speaker 1 = bridged
2 RCA => not connected where's the - speaker 1 coming from ?

I think this makes sense too ? but hey, I can be wrong or my brain is getting over aged by now... wink.gif

Hey... idea.gif if there's a switch on the AMP to select 2 or 4 channel then it also works with only 2 RCA inputs.... oops.gif

AHHHHHHHHH
lol
we are back at square one

The way madtib explained it is the way i have it wired

EXCEPT!!!

In the dvc ... i have + and + connected

So the signal is not inverted on one side...

I need to switch it to + and -

Other than that.. my system is wired correctly (according to how madtib described)

Channel 1 and 3 are being used..

Channel 1 positve and channel 2 negative (same on the other side)

The only thing i see i have wired incorrectly is the dvc thing.

Imma try and fix that.. ill report what happens.

Jaws....................YES,Thank you!!!!!

The whole problem with the amp shutting off was because the DVC subs were wired for 2 ohms.

So now, this is what you do.....................

Sub A,Voice coil 1 + connects to Voice coil 2 -

Then for Sub A you will have one + and one - remainning.These will go to the amp just the way it was before.Then Sub B is done exactly like sub A.

Now, you will have 2 subs that are a total of 8ohms, bridged to the amp the way it was before.The amp will now be happy. laugh.gif
