ok don't buy rf from circuit city or best buy it is the bottom of the line stuff. for head unit it's your personal prefrence. i personally have an older pioneer in my truck right now. it's pretty good and it's also for sale along with other things. but if your having ratteling problems take off the panels and put weather striping on the edges of the. I had a bad problem with the one's arround the hatch and had to do that. but please don't buy anything a best buy or let them install it!

Solo, you're the audio man, so I would normally say "OK, you're right, I'll just order something badass from Crutchfield and call it a day" but as I mentioned, I have a VERY nice discount at Best Buy. If only they sold the Alpine I wanted. I'm planning on getting some Pioneer HU, because I just want something new instead of the Sony I have now.

I'm not worried about cost, as long as it comes from Best Buy, and, sadly, it really is a piss poor selection there, considering how many brands we do not carry. (Rumors are going that we won't even carry Sony soon, basically leaving us Pioneer and Kenwood)

I think for the 8500, I can get it for around $250, so I'm not complaining. The XM stuff is about half price and since my brother already has it I can get on the family plan for $6 a month. Plus with a service plan, for employees, it basically lets us "trade up" anytime we want. One of the car audio sales guys has used about 9 head units in the last 6 months.

For the install, I personally have known the install guy before we started working there, he knows what he is doing. If he messes up it's not like I won't see him everyday.

Good luck on the discount. But be careful.... I knew of a guy who worked @ Best Buy and he got fired because he bought 3 HU's within 2 years. They are really strict about the products you buy being FOR YOU... they don't want you to turn around and sell 'em for a profit... they keep track of what you buy. I suggest getting some nice Monster Cables or something. And talk to the install guy... I'm sure he could give you some help with a good setup, since he knows what is offered through the store and has installed and probably tested out the bass on the cars he's worked on

well your gonna have to take the quality vs the price. you can pay more and get a higer quality and be happier or buy a lesser quality and wish every day after that you'd bought the little more eqpensive stuff.

Werd, I agree with Solo totally.

If you spend a decent amount now, and then you'll want something better shortly afterwards, selling what you got will lose you money and you're gonna spend more than you would have in the first place.

...

Yeah.
