love the LED project and im thinking about doing it myself ...my father and i were wondering how much clearance you had between the bottom of the door and the door sills. I want to make sure that i dont out them in and the first time i shut the door, break every light lol

-Thanks

^^ Use LED mounts. They will allow the LED to slide inwards rather then chop it off. it also makes the profile just 1-2mm rather then 5 or so. You drill the hole, slide the LED mount in one way and then pop the LED in from the other, do the wiring and then you're done.

They are perfectly flush if you use the mounts.

Yupp, those mounts are awesome, although frustrating sometimes, do you all just pop them in? because I put a dab of superglue to hold mine in.

Yeah, they can be finicky, but if you drill the hole just the right size, they sort of snap in there. I decided never to use super glue on them after the first time trying to do that - the glue NEVER hardened. Half hour later it was still dripping... mad.gif Tried some model glue, but didn't seem to hold much either.

Where did you get your mounts?

The trick with glue is to add less then a drop, then insert the LED and rotate it around if possible. The glue sorta hardens really quickly when you add a very small ammount. Also the type of glue you use is important too. Superglue and Krazy glue are the two best I've found.

Interesting, looks familiar.

Unfortunately, you can't put them all the way across in the GK, because of the way the pocket is situated, so my SillShines are just two lights. But I still like it.

All of my products should be available for the RD soon. smile.gif

Oh, for reference, here's what my LED holders, at least, look like underneath the door:

^^ that's the kind I usually use. they don't sit flush.

I've got about 50 of those fuxors somewhere in my stuff, but I'd buy some new ones if they sit flush.

You're not going to find any that sit totally flush. That's not how they work...

And there's plenty of room to close the door without any interference with these- they only really stick about 1/16" out.

DTN, I got mine in a pack of 100 on eBay. As Paul said, they do stick out about 1/16 of an inch. But it's soft down there, so it ends up being essentially flush.
