New Amp = New Sub Or Not?
#1
hey guys, i got an 04 tib with then infinity system. Alright, here is the plan. I'm getting some JL XR components for the front and some new JL 6X9 for the back. I already have a JL 250/1 that I was thinking of running to my stock sub, my alpine 360/4 for the comp and 6X9 and a JL500/1 for my 12W7. My question is that will the 250/1 blow the stock sub or would it just be best to get a new sub to put in the box? I just want to know my options on that before I go any further in my setup. Thanks

No idea.
We don't know much about the GK series tiburon (03 and up).
What can you tell us about the OEM sub and Infinity system?

^^^ What he said.
To answer your question though, if you turn the gain up high enough it will blow the stock sub.
But as stated if you are adding another sub then I would get rid of the stock one.
the sound would not match.

I used to work at a nissan and hyundai dealership so I know alittle about the GK's
if you are adding another sub take out the stock there's no point keeping it.... if you a just adding an amp to the stock sub then it will be fine. Infinity speakers are fairly decent and you said you were only using a 250 watt amp... Although the speaker guys that I've talked to say that they've seen more subs being blown from being under powered then they have being over powered.

Thanks you guys. I know my tib is a newer model but i tried to put the same topic on the newtiburon.com forum and never got a responce. I have been so disappointed with that site. they never answer any topic I put up and it takes the admins a few hours before they will even post my topic or reply. 02.gif
