OK, so this weekend im planning on buying a new head unit to power my 12" sub my buddy gave me.

To start, Im looking at getting this headunit, headunit

And the amp is,Orion 225 HCCA amp

and the sub is 12" Orion XTR.

I am going to get the headunit installed for free, because it is free, and I was going to wire the amp my self.

1)-What is the best way to run the power from the battery to the amp?

2)-Should I run it under the carpet through the fire wall, which sounds like a PIA, or outside through the vent thing, in the skirts in the fender to the battery?

The other speakers are stock for now, cuz im not made of money.

3)-What are your opinions and comments?

A good way is to route a 4 AWG wire from the battery to underneath the fender to driver's side kick panel, then on the side of the car, to the trunk. You will also need a fuse on the wire, as close to the battery as possible.

As for the audio cables, I routed RCA wires from the headunit to the trunk through the center console, under the carpet, and under the rear seat. I also had a pair of speaker wires for the front speakers - wired them to the front speaker wires in the headunit harness. I wired the rear speakers directly.

You will definitely need a kit with wires and such, i recommend this one: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...prodID=KFX-AK4
The power wires are really nice, they are very flexible despite being thick.

You can find some pictures of my install here:

They aren't very detailed, but you can also search around, there are a couple of threads about this, with helpful pics.

Yah, I was thinking under the fenders would be the best and most easy route.

What do you suggest to stop my sub from moving around in the trunk?

Heres a pic of the sub,

Short screws. Pull the driver out, position the box where you want it, and shoot screws through the car's sheet metal. Without screwing through the gastank or something stupid like that. There's no reason not to do it that way aside from the hassle, unless you just want to be able to remove it without pulling the driver again.

I didn't secure mine at all, box is pretty heavy and doesn't normally move - but i don't go crazy with sudden braking and whatnot.

Dude, the car comes with 2 tiedowns near the bottom of the back of the trunk. Use a bungie cord.

Since I'm assuming you still have your seats in the back....you can just get some "Industrial Strength" Velcro....trust me it exists. Put the side that goes the gripping on the bottom of the box. Then just place it on the carpet, and push down a bit, then wiggle the box. It will hold it enough that it won't slide around, but also allow you to remove the box VERY easily...

Anyone that doubts this is free to take a look a my FG box thats held in place the same way...Only since I've removed the rear seats, theres a strut bar in its path in case I stop REALLY fast, or rear end something.

Best way to run the wires is take your top door sill piece off run it through there through the speaker/arm rest cover piece of plastic for the back seat's out the other side right to the back of the trunk and you can hide all the wire's there very easily. The for the up from part wire them up kinda on the side of the fuse box panel at your feet up in front of the pedal's kinda then through the little hole there through the fire wall. Mine just barley fit cause I have a small wire for auto locks goin through there. Same thing for the rca's and remote wire. Then the ground is super easy. From the amp in the back hide the wire between the back seat's and the trunk crack up to the left and behind where your little trunk light is. There are perfect bolt's there.

Progress is kinda slow due to school and money BUT, I did run all the wires to the amp the other day.

I ran the power from the battery THROUGH the drivers fender THROUGH the hood release cable gromit , which lead inside the cabin.
Then i just ran it under the door step to the back.

Kinda the same for the Remote power on and RCA but they stop at the headuit.

STILL havent gotten the headunit I need yet but looking to get it soon.

I made a pic in paint of my wireing HOPE YOU LIKE.
