What does 2-way speakers or 4-way speakers mean? sorry for the ignorance.

Also What do you guys think of these speakers i like them because the blue led's plus the RMS wattage is pretty high but like i said im pretty ignorant i know the basics about speakers. Just enough to install a system. Mostly wiring not a lot about the speakers themselves.

Do you have an amplifier? If you do, then that would be a great speaker. Otherwise, they won't make much noise. If you plan on running them from the stock deck or an aftermarket, stay with 20-50W speakers with 4 ohms.

Please give meaningful titles to your threads, people should be able to tell what it's about..

2-way means there are two speakers in one - there is a small tweeter, and the big woofer. 4-way means 4 speakers, for example like 3 tweeters of different sizes and the woofer. In practice, I doubt a 3 or 4 way is better than a 2 way in general.

The RMS wattage is how much they can take, so the higher the better.. Problem is, I'm not sure if those cheapo speakers you linked are anywhere close to 100-200W RMS..

So you don't have an amp for your speakers? Then as DTN said you're only getting like 20-30W per speaker, just get lower wattage speakers and get better brand/quality.

heres my professional advice on car speakers. aftermarket speakers are built with higher wattage "power". a stock deck will only put out 15 watts rms give or a take a bit. now if you have a higher powered speaker you underpower it with a low powered deck and therefore push the speaker with low power causing it to distort and wreck itself. when you amplify a speaker you are powering it properly and therefore giving it the power it needs causing it to perform properly. it wont distort and it will sound right. so if you are running aftermarket speakers on a stock deck you might aswell amplify them or get low end speakers with low wattage so that you dont waste your money

You're not going to wreck a speaker by running too low of power to it, the same as you're not going to wreck a toaster by running too low of power to it. If a speaker does not get enough power, then it does not move the coil and does not vibrat the speaker as much. Giving a speaker too low of power is the same as turning the volume down on the stereo. It's simply not as loud. You'll run into distortion issues and this myth is propigated by people mismatching impedance ratings on speakers and amplifiers.

ADVICE:

You can easily install LED's in your speaker grills. I've done it with mine and it looks really good at night. I wouldn't recommend buying speakers because they look pretty. Unless it was from a company that has proven time and again that they have amazing sound quality.

It wouldn't take all that long to do your own LED set up around your speakers, and when its all said and done, you can take pride in the fact that you did it yourself.

When you do get new speakers, and you want to do the LEDs, try and get speakers that have some silver paint on them. It will definitely show the blue light a lot better than the black.

You can screw up your speaker if you drive your audio source (head unit) into distortion (try to make it louder than the voltage allows its output to be). This is true regardless of the wattage of the speaker (even if the speaker has higher wattage), but again it's not BECAUSE it has higher wattage, it's because you're sending it a distorted signal.. It might also be that with a higher wattage speaker, the distortion is less noticeable..

You will NOT "cause the speaker to distort and wreck itself" just because you are feeding it less power than it can take - like DTN says that's exactly what happens when you turn your volume down.. A speaker doesn't "need" a certain amount of power.

But yes, get a 4 channel amp for sure, it was the best audio investment I made.
