My Custom Dash Thingy.
I chopped this up aaages ago to compensate for the 03 infinity DIN from my friends GK.. I love this head unit.. sounds lovely and looks poo, that way noone knows what youre hiding laugh.gif
I chopped out the centre bar and skimmed it to fit perfectly over the HU, so all that was left was some spot putty and filler work and alot of sanding and shaping.. it's about there now smile.gif
Decided that green to blue HOK kameleon would suit well, I have painted the front bezel of the cup holder and the ash tray face black (repaint with alot of HOK klear) and the surrounds with the kameleon.
The heater knobs will also be done kameleon with red kandy over the light up parts.
Im going to stop there as I dont like the look when all the doors and stuff are done, I might remove the wee airbag switch housing and do that too but thatll be it.
Paint came out amazingly well, it looks a bit milky/misty here because I had literally just painted down the 3rd coat of klear, but it's gone transparent now smile.gif

It's just a boil on the bottom of what Im up to to be honest.
The whole car was gutted 3 weeks ago and I removed all the OEM wiring for the stereo and rewired everything back to the trunk.
All the speakers have been replaced, the pod thingers (plastic things) that the front speakers sit in are now sealed and will host some volfenhags temporarily.. the amp display is being built on weds to house the 2 amps and electronics..
Who in god's name decided it was a good idea to route all the wiring harness through the darn fender anyways? GOD I cant tell you how hard it is getting 4 gauge through there.. thank god for horse whips LOL.
Even the speakers in the doors.. I had to remove the plastic socket things, drill holes in them and run the new wiring through then get them back in (no mean feat) and make sure the rubber boots were back on properly).
So far I have spent about 30 hours running wire and cables.. Tiburons are not nice to deck out with powerful sound systems..
I just ordered an interstate battery because I fear the crap one I have will bubble and burn.. also ordered a lightning cap and more bits..
What a nasty little car to work on tho, seriously I know Im going on but my hands are cut to buggery.
Pretty amazing stuff this kameleon..
Funny how when the sun was brighter earlier it was green and now in the finished shots its very blue hehe.
So here it is all reassembled and ready to go back in (once the reek of fumes has passed laugh.gif )

lol, i had to do the same for the doors, and it was a pita. running power though, i have an 8 gauge and 0 gauge wire running through the fender grommet. plenty of room.
im going to move this to interior, since i think this will eventually turn into a conversation about that. wink1.gif

hey.. nice work so far, Pandy.
Not to go offtopic... were you on route 30 sunday morning about 1am? I was coming home from philly and saw a white tib with a black bra turn off ahead of me.. I thought maybe to follow, but I am not the stalker type.

No mate, I dont have a bra.. now living where I do I really should but Id rather my front end take all the chips and bugs.. Bras are GROSS.
I very rarely go farther than to and from work in honesty.. with the cop crackdown going on I just come home and leave it there..
The farthest I ever drive is hammonton.. about 45 miles and most of that is on 55 to malaga then backroads.
If youre ever passing by deptford drop me a line (Im here til 5:45pm every day) and Ill make some coffee.. I LOVE MY COFFEE LOLOL laugh.gif
(Ill pm you my email and phone number smile.gif )
Package arrived last night setting me loose to get some stuff done.
Pulled out the tib's pods, sealed them up and put the new mids in..
Also hand made all the patch cables with some seriously expensive silicon RCA wire.

And laid out all the stuff that's going to be on the amp board so I could arrange it all to fit smile.gif

Finally my day off of work came and I went out and got some matierals to build the amp display unit with.
I decided a long time ago that I wanted it all to be 'modular' and not car specific after learning a valid lesson with a custom ford taurus last year.
IE never trust a car.
I had no idea how I wanted it to look before I got started, I knew sorta how I wanted it to be but I kinda flowed using the dimensions I had planned as a guide.
This is it built.. the amp board is detatchable from the centre..
The insides of the part you can see with the board in will be painted kameleon (the inside side viewable areas) and the outsides and edges of the curve will be carpetted.. the amp board is also carptetted.
Pic of built unit.. still a long way to go smile.gif

Then final mock up before I turned the amp board into swiss cheese laugh.gif

And the almost completed amp board... everything is in position but I didnt have any thin rem cable, power cable or ground cable.
I had to move a couple of things post mock as they wouldnt have worked where they were smile.gif

And the back, this thing will be spaghetti junction laugh.gif

I decided on birch ply because it is lighter and makes less mess than MDF.
