He probably used a 1/8 inch stereo plug to RCA connection and then hooked that fromt the sound card to his AUX input on the deck.

In order for me to hook my iPod up to my deck that didn't have an AUX input, I had to use a device that fools my CD changer controls, so he may have needed something like that.

I'm actually in the middle of doing this too, the only difference is mine is going to be in the trunk, and all USB.
I'll be using a small form factor PC case and just mount it in the corner of my trunk. I have a wireless mouse, wireless keyboard and ATIs remote wonder than can cotrol Winamp as well as windows. I have USB and Firewire ports that will be mounted in the bottom of my console. Sound will be USB so it can hook to my AUX in unit as well as offer headphone jacks everywhere there is a USB port.

The only reason I haven't done this yet is:

I don't have an LCD monitor yet
I also have a iPod and a SOny CDX-757MX 10 disc MP3 changer. With that combo I have 27 gigs of MP3s at tap. I'm not sure I want to eat up more trunk space just so I can watch DVDs and play video games in my car.

BTW, great job on your install and pics!!

Here are a number of remotes you can use that have Winamp specific plug-ins available, like skip to next song, playlist control, etc.

Here are a number of remotes that can control the PC as well as DVD software and it also has a decent Winamp plug-in.
