Leds And Resistors

what is the best way to connect the led to the resistor and then connect the resistor to the power wire? I looked and didnt see any advice on this. Thanks

On the ones i've done , i soldered the resistors to the led( onto the long leg) and soldered to the wire as well then used heat shrink tubing to cover the connections.

try putting some flux on the parts you soldering, it deoxidisese (cleans) the parts your soldering ,so you should get a better weld (stronger).

Do this:

























you can hold both the LED and resistor in 1 hand and apply solder from the other side if you don't have a camera in your hand

Also, make sure you use some rosin core solder, you won't need flux if you use that. Also, make sure you are heating up the metal and not the solder

btw... i made that joint huge for the picture, usually i only leave about 1-2 mm of excess off of the LED for soldering.

and if you solder it onto the short leg, then you have 2 long legs to work with and trim down if needed, if you solder onto the long leg, you've got 1 long leg.
