I just got done doin my interior (still a few touch ups left) so I might be able to help...
For the door removal: www.hmaservice.com/webtech
For a good paint job:
I'm no painter or anything but this is what i did and mine turned out fine:
- First clean everything. If you want the paint to stick you gotta get all the armor-all, other oils, and dirt of off the surface. I just used rubbing alcohol and a clean rag, there's actual solvents out there though.
- Sand down surfaces so everthing is very smooth (I skipped this but you
should probably do it ?)
- Wipe surfaces again
- Wait until everything is dry and primer surface.
-Paint surface (most would suggest Duplicolor paint...it's what i used and it looks great!) Use whatever you want.
- Wait until paint is relatively dry to clear coat. I would suggest SEVERAL coats of clear if you want paint to last and have that glossy look.
-Put it all back in and enjoy!
TIPS: Paint surfaces in a clean, ventilated area. Not outside where wind can blow dirt onto surface as your painting.
ANOTHER TIP: Follow the temperature guidelines on your spray paint. I
painted my dash one morning when it was cold and the paint didn't dry
right. It had cracks all over it and looked like shit! Took forever to fix.
I don't know what the weather is like where you are but it's pretty cold up
here in Seattle now.
what did you do to your door handles? Did you try to paint the actual
handles or just the piece that slides on over the door handle.
Anyhow, if it's not fixable i have two extra in the garage...i think.

Follow what Patreezy said, a product called TSP works good to get t he unseen dirt and grime off the surface. I hear lots about DUplicolor, you can get that anywhere (AutoZone, Pep-Boys, Canadian Tire)
i did my interior about three months ago with Krylon Fusion spray paint. I pretty much did the same things patreezy suggested and it turned out great. So far the Fusion paint is holding up very well with no problems.

Oh yeah...I was gonna mention that Krylon Fusion stuff. It's specially made for
spray painting plastic material. I used it on my lawn furniture, that stuff dries VERY fast. I think it's a lil cheaper too, woulda used it on my interior but they didn't have the colors I wanted so I went with duplicolor. Lets us now how it turns out man.

YES, you still should clear coat
When i did my lawn furniture it came out really flat (maybe because i didn't clean them first...)
I would still definetely clear coat if you like that professional gloss look.
It will also protect your paint from knicks and scrathches a lil.
Do like 2 or 3 seperate clear coats after you paint your interior the color you want. good luck
