Default interior neons

I need a how to installation guide for dummies on istalling interior neons. Where should I wire up the power source and how to get to it? Real basic and easily understandable please. Thanks.

you can use any power source you want, the easiest i think would be the cig lighter. or straight from the fuse box. or you could just run it from the battery. its really up to you.

There are a couple ways you can wire up the neon:

(1)Wire in a seperate switch so that you can turn them on/off when you want.

(2)Wire to the ignition,so the neon is on whenever you turn the key.

(3)Wire to the dash/headlights,so the neon is only on when you turn on the headlights/parking lights.

Right now I have a neon string light that is secured in place around the inside lip of my ash tray.I used #3 above for my wiring.

On the harness for the 12v recepticle(cigarette lighter),there is a wire which only has power on it when you turn the switch for the parking/headlights.This is the wire that I connected into for the + input of the neon transformer. Then of coarse I properly grounded the - input of the transformer.

I highly suggest you invest in,at least,a cheap Radio Shack volt meter. You need this to find what wire has 12v at what times.

Right now I can't really help you as far as what wires in other places of the car to use, because I havn't set up any other neon in my car yet.

Hope this much helped some!

I used the cigarette lighter to power a Street Glow Music box. I like the music interface because it made installation so much easier. Wal-mart also sells a cigarette plug splitter with or with out the music interface so you can run all your neons to it with out cutting the plugs of the ends.

Spatch!

I already cut the plug part off. No biggie I will try the wire from the cigarette lighter. I will just try to wire tap the one with 12v. Hope it works and will have pics tomorrow. Thanks everyone.

when I intalled my neons in front of the seats and a pair behind it and also in the map compartment on the doors, I tapped wires for the switches on the cig. lighter and used inline fuse for protecttion.

I put 4 seperate switches into the center console of my 2K tib, I mounted them on the side of the console facing the Driver side cockpit. I put in 4 switches 2 are currently dummies for future use.

I'm also putting in my interior neons over the winter since its one of the few things I can do during that time.

Any opinons on acutally mounting the tubes?

My rough plan:

2 - larger tubes 12-15" blue neon Tubes to mount under each footwell of the front seats.

2 - 10 " tubes that I want to mount in the back seat lighting up the floor of the rear seats. I want to mount them just under the overhaning lip on the back bench seat anyone tried that? or Know how I can mount them since its just material?

2- Last ones 10" Black light tubes on the roof, I was hoping to mount them on the inside lining of the sunroof so that it would light up more or less the front seats. Anyone mounted any tubes on here and if so how did you do it.

My buddy has black light tubes in his truck and they look sweet trying to duplicate that with the matching blue neons on the floor to go with the other blue light effects.
