Installing In Dash Dvd
I don't know about RD1's but I know I didn't need a dash kit for my RD2, I just used the stock plates that screw into the stock head unit. as for wire harness you can get by just splicing the old wires but you would need to have a diagram.

Go to crutchfield and ask about installing it. They'll hook you up with whatever you need - wire connectors, 'dash kit' (plastic shroud with the pocket, just as you have pictured above), instructions, whatever. I got my radio through them and it came with all the extras for free, but you are able to buy it separately too.

Ok, cool, thanks guys. I have a bad feeling though that my ex spliced all the wires together. I'm gonna have to take a look this afternoon.
This thing has input for Navigation which is something I really wanted. I really wanted to go with the latest Pioneer AVIC N4 or whatever theyre up to now, but dont have over $1000 to spend. So this one I got for $300 and I can add on nav later. Also it has input for a backup camera, I'm considering installed one of those. I mainly got it though so I could "watch" the Bourne trilogy on my long 8 hour road trips. And also I can play my ipod through it, so no more CDs everywhere.

Lots of Tibs came stock with an aftermarket Clarion head unit?????
TC - it would have been easiest for your lazy boyfriend to use a wiring harness, so there might be on in there already. You've pulled the dash off enough, just pull your current CD player out and see how this one looks like it will fit.
You'll need the pocket dash kit (which I think you already have) but the side mounts probably won't be necessary. Pull your CD player out and look at how it's wired.
For installing the new, make sure you use electrical tape to cover any and every exposed wire.

Ok, got it all installed just now, was very easy. Works fine, had to resist wasting my battery watching bourne ultimatum in my car...haha
anyway, only thing I couldn't figure out is the ipod adapter. I thought I had it all connected properly, but when I plug my ipod in, nothing happens, it doesn't recognize it. Any thoughts?

Well I'm pretty sure they didn't come loose, but I will double check to make sure. I'm thinking maybe I installed the ends in reverse of how they are supposed to go, maybe the end thats in the ipod box needs to go in the deck, and vice versa.....? lol
I just pulled it out again, everything's connected correctly, according to installation guide. There's one black s-video-ish (it's not s-video, but kinda similar) cord coming out of the deck, which then connects to another cord of the same type, which then inputs into the ipod control box. I plug in the ipod, the i-pod lights up but the deck does not recognize it. There is a detachable harness with positive and negative wires, but according to the installation diagram, this is an optional thing. So I left it off. Anyone have any ideas?
