So the other day I had my centre surround pulled and I realised there was an LED in the ashtray. bigeyes.gif
This was intensely satisfying considering I had already planned out and bought the parts for a custom ashtray lightup dealie (technical term).

So my question is, anyone know the specs of the stock ashtray LED and how to go about replacing it? (with a sexy blue one of course)

 

I made my own custom solution. grab some random plastic, and some LEDs,then epoxy that sucker together. You don't have to look at it. There might be a better way if yours came with a light back there to start with. That's how I did my ashtray and lighter.

 

It's not a LED, it's a 73/74 size bulb if I remember correctly.

 

^^^ Yup. Not sure of the size, but it's definitely a bulb. Either that or someone's beaten you to the punch. Don't forget to put the resistor in there.

On a related note, are these 73/74 dash bulbs the same size as the ones used to illuminate the guages/dash accessories?
If so I'm going to look into a bulk pack and continue the blue theme I'm going for.

 

Yes. ONly problem is you need a 90 degree bulb for the lighter light, when you take it all apart to look at it, you'll see why.
