HU took a dump at Wendy's
Last night I was in Wendy's drive through when my HU took a crap. Here is what happened. The display on my face went black but the music still played. There are no blown fuses. Im thinking its a problem with my face because it music still continued to play but it has since stopped and wont come on. I have a Kenwood Excelon
Detatchable... well the HU has no power to the face.. is the best way I can explain it. All the buttons worked before it took a crap. If I detatch the face the little secuirty ligh still blinks, and my amps still come on with the ignition and checked all the fuses so its getting powered. I dont think its completely broke because it continued to play after the face turned itself off. Kind of like if you just detatched the face as it was still playing. Itll play for a second before the unit turns itself off.
I had the same problem with my flip face excelon. The problem with mine was that the ribbon cable that attached the hu to the face split.
How do the connections look? Still shiny? It could be the mux controller inside the face itself. If you know anyone else with the same model (or take your face into a store that sells the radios and try it on one) and see if its the faceplate or the hu.

I might try to do that..... There is a car stereo place right by my ex gf's work and I have to pick her up. The connectors on the face and unit itself still look really good. I think its either in the face or something inside the unit that is part of the assembly that communicates with the face.
smile.gif I always find that to be the fastest way to find out if a new faceplate will work, or if its the hu. Ive stopped trying to replace chips in hu's since its freakin hard to take the plates appart without cracking/breaking the plastic.
How old is the model? You could also try calling kenwood (or the place you bought it) and act all upset and see what they can do (best case it could be a known problem/recall)

My Execlon flip face had a 3 yr warrenty. Broke 2 1/2 years after I got it. Sent it back, they fixed it, and returned it (and the CD that was stuck in it). smile.gif
It was a while ago so I dont remember 100%, but I dont think it was that long... 2-4 weeks I beleive...
Thinking about it, I dont remember if I got the warrenty through the store or if it came with the head unit.
I would try calling both. Like I said, sound angry and upset and see what happens smile.gif.
