Default help please

ok, i'm trying to get at my cd deck, and the center console (the part with the a/c, fan controls, ect. are located) isn't coming off. i have an A/T 96 elantra. I went to hmaservice.com and it seems as though the center console comes right off after unscrewing the two screws and taking off the plastic covers around the shifter. i can feel that it isn't coming off around the area where the temperature adjst. is. help please...i want my sub/amp hooked up. thanks

Your heater cable is probably still attached and you'll fÜck it up if you just pull real hard to get the dash off, do a search for "gauge install guide" Random created it and it is very helpful in taking the dash apart.
hope I helped, good luck.

the thing is that i already looked up random's install guide, and it seems that the center fascia for the tib (in the guide) and my elantra are different. the tib looks like the piece that i'm talking about is in two peices, and for my ride, it is one. i need to know what to detach, and how to detach it (how to get to the plug, detach it, and still be able to reattach it when i'm finished.) Random, tunez, or whoever else knows about this stuff, HELP! Oh yeah, thanks in advance.

On one of the links Random posted, #11 says take out the heater control cable on th LH side. now there are two screws located onder the dash on the left side of the heater box(?) on is to a silver braket and the other is to a white thing that moves when you turn the temp control from cold to hot. I hope I am clear and this helps you. smile.gif
