I want to install a small stick on led strip as a glovebox light. Is there anyway to set it up so that it only comes on when the glove box is opened?

 

You'd have to install a switch on the glovebox door somewhere. Run the switch from a switched (not the battery) and fused power source. Put the lamp in the same power loop as the switch, ground it somewhere metal in the dash, and you're done.

 

I added one to my glove box and simply wired it to my parking lights. Figured when its dark enough for headlights, I would probably need a light in my glove box. Not quite as elegant as figuring out a switch and all, but works well.

 

DO you not have a factory glovebox light? If you do, tap into the wiring for that. I'm just not sure, the GK has one.

 

RDs don't. You will need a long arm switch or something to turn it on and off.

 

Just a microswitch at the top/opening of the door, closing the contact when the door is opened. No need to hide it unless you are super-picky.
