Bummer. Well I just realised I made a mistake with my system. A rather costly one LMAO.

When I was wiring in my FX-45 thingermyjigger I accidentally ran off a set of rear RCA wires that came from the 8v line driven boosted output for the sub..... Right into a Phoenix Gold amp putting out 500 WRMS into 2 ohms and a poor set of Audiobahn carbon 6x9's. And I didnt realise my mistake because my sub is so overbearing that the image from back sounded fine for a while.

Well I dont play my system within 1/2 a mile of my apartment complex, I dont need the attention and neither do my expensive windows. My Cliford alarm doesnt need a workout you see.. So I turn down the sub level to 0 before rolling in a treble rebel because let's face it, no thieving scrotum is interested in a high end front stage. It's all about bass.

Well as I did that a few weeks ago I heard this horribly fuzzly sound coming from the back. Closer inspection revealed the wiring error, and a SERIOUSLY batted set of 6x9s. LMAO. The spiders are all floppy laugh.gif

So that f***in sucked. And I knew that replacements wouldnt be cheap because I have very expensive taste. Not very expensive taste a la tweeter (boston et al) I am talking ABOVE tweeter, brands like Dynaudio, Morel, ID and so on. So I simply faded out that amp and left it there.

Well then a couple of days back a friend of mine on my team phoenix forum offered me a solution to my woes. See, the problem is that the 6x9s in the back are completely not audible once that sub gets on the stretch. The bass is so f***ing ridiculous that it all gets drowned out back there. Even my complex front stage (2 6.5" clif mids and tweets AND 2 3.5" clif mids and tweets @ 1 ohm around the 400W mark) cannot cover up that bass most of the time (depends what music I am listening to of course). Now believe me when I say I run a LOUD car. 3 amps, 5 farad cap and a total amp output of over 2kw RMS. I dont mess with max figures. My amps all get the needed 14-15V and operate very powerfully..

So the solution? well he was running a SQ system last year at a competition and one of his amps decided to do a brown out on him. Brown out = bad. The whole channel caught fire and roasted the board in the amp. Well with it it ate half of a $500 midrange/tweet front stage. The other side was left intact.

So, I got a 6.5" Image Dynamics, 1" ID tweeter and a Cerwin Vega Accurate Image crossover. For the princely sum of $33 shipped. God I love my friends..

So what use is one mid and tweet? simple. I dont know how many on here have studied sound dynamics, but it definitely seems that Remee on Unique Whips has. He did a Ferrari a while back and made a extension to the centre console with one 6" JL mid and tweet in it, running off of a bridged amp as a 'rear center channel'.

Because of the positioning of this one speaker and tweet you can cover a great deal of the audio spectrum doing it just so. So, what Im going to do is build an extension to the console in the Tib, Bridge up the ZX250 and run it as such. It'll be about 16 inches below my ears. Cant wait !!

And check these out for sexy. This is the combo I am getting. And get the price too !

Saweeeeeeet

I don't get it, what happened exactally? You got a new speaker to replace the old ones?

Brown-outs are when you don't have enough power to supply and things start going dim. It sounds like he just had a fire.

I gave my 6x9s 500 watts RMS @ 2 ohms with an 8 volt line driven RCA. @ 33hz. LMAO.

Needless to say it blew them to absolute shit.

So, Im using one of those ID mids and tweets and am going to build a rear centre channel speaker bridged off the same amp smile.gif

you could still put them in the back just point them at you. the back 6x9's can get loud but because they arent pointed at you, you dont get the same effect as you normally would. i would just add the rear center channel in the back and make something to hold the speakers.

Well the mid and tweet arrived but they were damaged in transit and the mid was dead. I did get a full refund tho and got to keep the tweeter (tho it aint much use to me lol).

However, the guy felt bad about it so offered me a brand new set of these -

For $68 shipped. I couldnt say no smile.gif
