Fiberglass help - making the "shell"
yeah redtibby, i'll use a sander.. no way in hell i will sand by hand at first.. i'll save that for the finish sanding.
And mold release.... i know they sell actual mold release.. i think the website that Madtib posted was www.selectproducts.com I have also read that you can use WD-40, but i have never tried it. I just use aluminum foil and tape it down, then glass over the foil.

if your using your bumper itself as a mold i dont believe that mold release would be best because the heat would still transfer thru and you would run a chance of damaging it....i've melted thur plastic bucket because of too much hardener and i could only imagine what it would do to a bumper
yeah.. i dont know what to suggest if ur using it on ur bumper(s). As redtibby said, the resin gets pretty hot depending on the amount of hardener you use, i too have melted plastic by using too much hardener...
Bondo,to make a mold???? Not too sure about that, but if you've done it before then I guess you know something I don't. Personally,I'd tape the bumper real good and lay a couple layers of chop mat.You can use painters tape. That won't hurt the paint/clear coat as long as you don't leave it too long.
You guys that say you have melted plastic cups/buckets...........................You must be using waayyy too much hardner. You really don't need that much.Especially in warm/hot ambient temps. Also using too much hardner for glass or bondo isn't good.It can crack/crumble easily.
