I also was going for the IDA-X001 when I was gonna get rid of my touch screen, I've played with the 9886 but not the X001 and just from playing with the one I thought i would like the other better since I never use cds, but like everyone else is saying, if you use cd's then get the one that plays them

I have the IDA-X100 too. Got er' hooked up to the Alpine PLT-5 powered subs and it sounds awesome. I have my touch hooked up all the time and it's awesome. Just ditched cd's completley and it seems that everyone is going that way. Even my friends all use cheap wireless ipod transmitters even though they don't sound very good. Only thing I hate about the IDA-X100 is that if you use a touch it pixelates the shit out of the album art. Other than that and the fact that it starts on the same song (alphabetical on my ipod) every time I turn the car on if it's been off for more than like an hour...but only two small gripes. Oh yeah and my HU was 279.99 Canadian. Was 300 but I got my subs at the same place so they took it down a bit...no tax either. And that isn't a bad deal either considering out dollar is shit right now. They used to be like 280 all over ebay. Now they're like 315 Canadian.

Alright, so I ended up going with the IDA-X100, and I'm half way through soldering all the new wires with the previous contraption that was set up in there from the earlier owner. While I had half of the dash ripped apart, I figured that I might as well actually clean the thing, so half the car is in pieces....

The thing looks good though!

Woo! It's all in!

And just to my luck, Alpine decided to introduce a brand new model of this, the iDA-X305, just my luck.
But statistically wise, they seem the same, just the new one works with the iPhone.

But I still think mine looks better. smile.gif
