well i just got the speakers in the doors and it looks really clean i had orginally got this idea from a member named pandy, hes not around anymore but here is a link to where i got the idea from.

pandys idea

but i thought i could do a better job with it so here is what i ended up with

no to bad and even though u can still see the screws, its alot cleaner then the orginal IMO cool.gif

this was probably one of the easier installs i've done. but when i was putting the t-taps on the driver side i cut the speaker leads so now i have to run out and get some butt connecters to finish up.

but the basic instructions on this install are

1. remove door
2. remove both vents on the back (total of maybe 6-7 screws)
3. testfit and mark the locations of your holes
4. drill with a small bit to be certain of placement and angle
5. attach speakers
6. make sure they are secured well
7. tap the existing speaker leads in the door from your 6.5 speakers
8. secure loose wires and reinstall door.

as soon as i get the butt connecters i'll post finished pics of the install. but i do have my pass side in and it feels like my system is twice as loud with the mids/highs directed straight at your head.

hope this helps any one who wants to add some more sound to your stereo.

Clean install, I'd probly paint your doors now. Looks good. Maybe needs some sort of mesh?

pssht.. we all get ragged on. Someone should PM pandy about this project. *cough optimoprime cough*.. He'd probly be pretty interested. He always had something interesting to say even if it was 90% off topic.

Are you planning on doing anything to cover up the screws or make it less likely that your speakers will get damaged in the event you have a kid in the front seat optimo?

Pandy was posting daily about tragedies in his life like it was a blog. It was depressing, annoying, and made several of our members suicidal. LOL He didn't like us asking him to take the severely depressing stuff elsewhere.

im back with the finished install pics here you go

i was in a hurry to take the pics so they might not be the best but u get the idea.

DTN- i'm not sure on how to cover up the screws without putting a cover on them like pandy. thing has two problems. 1. you couldnt see that the speakers are carbon fiber and match my gagues and subwoofer. 2. even if i didnt care about point1 i would still have to screw the cover down and that would still leave me with atleast 2 screwholes

i dont have kids in my car so i dont really worry about someone touching them. i just tell other people to watch out for them because they are expensive. actually now that i think about it i payed more for those speakers then i did for my current amp/HU combined.

edit- nevermind the dirty floor, its too cold to be outside cleaning the car wink1.gif

Only way I could think to mount them better... put a bracket inside the door panel, either glue it in place or find a way to flush mount some screws that you could then fill over and paint.
