ok i was thinkin of this
removing my factory carpet and using the original carpet as a template laying down this
on top of some fatmat
my questions:
how much do you think i will need of each to cover my floor? i got a elantra
do you think i should get some foam padding to put ontop of the fatmat and stick the carpet to that?
i want it to be as light as effectively possible like if i dont put the foam but the carpet wont stick its pointless....
thanks

Why do all that work and then replace the old carpet. take the carpet out and measure what you need. I'm sure they ship fairly quick giving you the chance to put the fatmat in completely. Then when the carpet arrives you just cut some holes and go to town.

well the factory one is premolded
the link i posted you stretch to fit so it would be alot more work stretchin it out over the exhaust well
plus like i already have my interior out so it wouldnt be hard to replace....hehe
i was quoted 425 for a new carpet(hyundai) and 300 for a custom made one
if i can get it dyed and save money it would be worth it

not to go offtopic.. but I want to address something said earlier. Best way to get the tar off of the inside of your floor.. is to freeze it with ice and chisel it off.
If I was to add any padding.. it would be on the floor only. No need to do the sills or the humd down the middle.
