ground filter is a more generic term for it. It removes noise generated by fluctuations in ground. A Ground Loop Isolator is a type of Ground Filter. Another type is a capacitor, hooked between ground and power. When ground fluctuates, it pulls down battery power as well, so it does not affect the circuit. Same thing with battery power fluctuating.
