Shorty, the most important thing I didn't hear anyone mention is the two way pager(except Supry's list). What's the point of having an alarm if you don't know it's going off! Two way is a must.

why? who in there right mind would still try to steal a car with a siren blarring off letting everyone around know whats going on? especially since like 90% of auto thefts occur at night, which makes the pager function useless while you are sleeping.

^^pop the hood and use wire cutters to cut the horn and thats it for the loudness, however why would you need a 2 way pager if you go outside to find nothing and a few kids are outside playing basketball? (obviously, they accidently hit your car),

as long as the components work, a name brand means nothing. the effectiveness of an alarm relies 95% on an install and what parts you have for it.

couldn't have said it better

get a viper thats what i have w/ the power door lock thingy and fully installed was $200ish, i think (can't find the receipt) or you can get the best of the best on ebay for $50 lmao.gif

^^^thats why i had my comment you quoted. a backup battery installed inside the cabin is a MUST, not a 2 way pager.

FYI- noise is not necessarily a deterrent to stealing your car or what's in it. If you've got something I want in your car, I can pull it out before anyone gets annoyed enough to notice the alarm is going off. The pager has an audible alarm on it that will go off when a sensor has been tripped. So beep beep beep=wake the hell up and see what's going on. If you can't hear that, then you won't here the stupid siren going off outside either.
Now as far as accidental alarms, unless you get a cheap pager, it will tell you which sensor is tripped. Motion, electrical, starter, open door/hood/trunk. So you decide if you want to check or not. If it's an impact maybe you don't want to check, but if it says you friggin door is open... You'd think you might want to take a look.
My Viper system with 2 way cost $350 with professional install. $450 with the starter.

Nothing can stop people from stealing from your car, but a deterrent helps. I don't know how many times I've been woken up at 3 a.m. from my 2 way going off, ran out to the car to find nothing, but I'd rather have that happen than not hear it at all. Plus you get all the other cool features that come along with it, like run time, temp, ect...

I cannot get a deal on a dei (parent company of viper, avital, hornet, wasp, python, ect...). The compustar does come with a lifetime warrenty and for others that aren't in the area, pm me about getting just the unit not installed. I'm not a vendor so I dont' want to push my posting privilidges.

Don't expect that Python to be reliable after several months or years, or to provide any theft or break-in protection. You can't get a quality install for less than $400, and you can't get a quality install at Circuit Sh*tty PERIOD. If that's your goal, save your money and get it done by a professional alarm shop. If all you want is a sense of false security and keyless entry, go ahead with CC. You'll probably have to go to a real alarm shop and get it redone eventually, and end up paying more for them to redo it than if you had gone there in the first place. I should know, I have firsthand experience, and unfortunately it's pretty common with CC and BB installs.

Do some searching here on what to look for in an install and installer.

Hood lock to prevent that, backup battery to prevent someone disabling your main battery by getting under your car, and you could also get a powered siren that will sound when the battery is cut. That's a popular method in my area, drill a hole in the battery and come back when it's dead, then take your time stealing everything.

I doubt you could stand to be inside my car for long when there's two 122db piezo sirens going off in your face. And my siren + horn honk definitely gets attention. It's not quiet. And you would have a hard time opening my hood.

But even having a bright flashing LED and warn away can be a deterrent. A thief will move on to an easier target. Yes, if someone wants what you have enough, they can get it, but the idea is to make it more trouble than it's worth for the thief.

Viper, non-G4/5 Clifford, and Python are all the same quality. Compustar has a reputation of being the best for currently available products. Clifford G4 sensors are still so much better than anything DEI ever made. I have a stockpile for future installs.
