bad luck
so, i just found out that one of my sony subs blew. soooo, i found a phoenix gold that a friend had, and bought it for 50 bucks....lucky there. bad part the other sony was "f"ing with the power of the phoenix, so we had to get rid of it. now my one phoenix is better than the two sony's and i have to find a new box......02.gif so much work! also i continue my search for a proper headunit....any ideas on should i go with one sub or try to get another pheonix...
For a good HU, id personally like the pioneers.. Most people dont think much of them, but the tuneability of them is unreal.. So many different level adjustments, many sub features w/ sub pre-out (not to mention a front and a rear), just tons of things you can adjust to your liking, not to mention the 6 preset EQ curves.. People say they are hard to figure out, but most of those people couldnt change their oil.. If not a pioneer, look into alpine, ive heard nothing but good about them also (no personal experience)..
As far as subs, depends on how much base you want.. Can your amp handle 2 subs? You didnt post your amp spec's (mono? 2/4 chan?) All that would help, not to mention the sub specs and what your looking for.. I personally like sub's paired.. And of course your phoenix > sony.. IMO sony is about the biggest overpriced trash product out there..

hehe, i paid 12 bucks for my sony subs, and 50 for the amp.....anyways its a "750W" 2 chan amp.....ill have to look up the other specs and let u know, another question, how much bass can our little tibs take b4 rattling like hell
Well I got dual JBL 12" subs powered by a US Acoustics 300x2 amp. I didnt run any dynomat as of yet but I listen to them pretty loud with little hatch rattle. I figure that I am using about 150 normally, although yesterday was a really hot day and I was cruisin down I-94 with Propain blasting and my amp cut out on me. I was cursing just as fast as I was driving. Stopped the car at a store, shut it off, grabbed a pop and when I started back up, it worked fine. I think I overheated the amp. Anyway to your question, I'm not really sure how to guage how much bass the hatch can take. Too many factors, loose hatch, different subs, different amps. If you dyno mat the hatch, I think you will boom enough to skip the CD before you rattle the hatch.
