I'm making a box to manage all of my input/output for my AV system. It's including a place to route my car's new TV antenna, a S-VIDEO/AV decoder and of course a TV for no reason!. It's going to be mounted to the rear of my passenger trunk seat. I'm taking a break for the night. Thought you might like to see pix.
Guess what i'm making it out of....

It's pictured upside down, but the unit will be vertical when mounted to the seat.
It still needs to be wrapped, fiberglass needs to be added, and the whole thing will be bondoed, shapped, carpeted, and electronics mounted inside before the completed project is mounted in my trunk.
It was kind of hard to figure out where to put power. I don't have the main unit, just the sub-unit for the stand-alone TV. but I finally figured out that the TV needs 9V and ground then it can take the AV input from RCAs. So i've also got to include a 9V power adapter somewhere inside this enclosure. Power has been hooked up directly to the board. Once I figure out how much power will be flowing into my enclosure, I'll select a switch or a breaker. I'm assuming it will be near 4A which could be handled by just a switch.

Is it worth putting an antenna in the car DTN?
My hu has a TV tuner, and I know that the channel with the simpsons and stuff is tunable, but do you really get a decent reception?
Ill have to look into adding an atenna to mine smile.gif

My antenna is right in the middle of the U my ATH forms. I want to shorten the stupid headphone cord they sent with the antenna and convert it to some beefy coaxial cord for improved signal. The signal sux. I'll either do that, or have the option of changing it completely.
The other thing is this will give me a optional video in and a place to hide a power cord at the trunk so I can easily hook up my xbox.
The main thing is that It also provides a housing for the extra TV i have laying around and the 9V power supply. It was origonally ment to operate with a portable DVD head unit and be strapped to the rear of a headrest. I'm making it a more fixed housing.
I'll post more pix this weekend. It shaped up very very nicly. I need to paint it black, put on some carpet, and start working on mounting now.
O nice man, what are you using to make the mold, fiber glass then bondo? And where did you get the pieces to mold, did you straight cut it from wood urself or just find something similar?
