so here's the deal... I'm looking @ getting a system and I've been looking around on EBay, and I'm kind of split between what I want... I'm looking @ an audiobahn setup, or an alpine setup... so let me know what gets your vote...

Audiobahn Amp
Audiobahn Subs
(2 amps/2 subs)
Alpine Subs
Alpine Amp(products>>amplifiers>>PDX Amplifiers (any one)

and let it be known that I'm not very proficient when it comes to car audio, so any thought/criticisms would be appreciated.... and I've heard the alpine, and it sounds good, but I've never heard audiobahn in person... and I'd need to get appropriate cables, so, yeah, as I said before... looking for input.
thanks!

Well considering Audiobahn is going out of business, I would suggust you stray away from them...
However I have done 2 installations with Audiobahn products and have no issues in any regards. Be aware most ppl will say Audiobahn sucks~ A majority of audiophiles hate audiobahn because it is pricey, your paying for the bling, and compared to higher end electronics in the same price range quality can differ.

When it comes down to it its your preference and really up front you need to decide a few things.

A) What is your budget (Total... Amp/Sub(s)/Deck?)
B) What kind of music do you like? Ported/Sealed Enclosure
C) Quality of Sound, or more Bump

Remember you usually get what you pay for.. Usually!

I personally love Audiobahn even though this is my last project with their products. Also I suggust staying away from punch or other unknown or cheap products.

^^

i think you meant to say audiobahn is very cheap, not pricey.

comparing both, id say the alpine has the lead in sound quility, and definitly build quality.

Cheap lol? compared to what. When I think of cheap amps CA amps come to mind, so many unknown amp companies that just post MAX instead of RMS...

Also btw Jeison if your going to be running that much power may need a Cap/Upd Alt/Better Battery. Currently with 12F and Ultima Red still can blink everything in my car with only 1800rms.

And seriously lets not let this become another Audiobahn bashing thread as most Audiobahn related threads end up.

He is simply asking for some opinions on product choice and assistance with his system development.

i wasnt bashing, just stating which was a better brand. audiobahn has allways been a very cheap company. they have started offering alot better products the last few years, but they still cant compare with high end alpine and such. theres just no comparison. now if were comparing the basic, low grade alpine stuff to the audiobahn, then there probably about the same quality.

Almost trying to compare apples and oranges here...

Of course their is a huge difference between the low end stuff (legacy|MA Audio|MTX|Pyramid etc) and the high end stuff that JL|Apline offers Etc...

It comes down to personal preference and how much one would like to spend. Any by stating that audiobahn has "always been a very cheap company" is bashing for that is your opinion.

i was looking @ up to 3K for equip etc, and as I'm attempting to make more of a show system, the bling kind of caught my eye tongue.gif also would i be able to run 2 of these off 1 amp or would i need 2 for sure... also any suggestions on what I would need for a cap/alt/batt, as I kind of figured I'd need a batt and ground wires at a minimum
Trance: I like your setup, never realized it was audiobahn until now lol...

also, I can't get any alpine amps off of ebay, so I'd have to pay @ or near full price for them, and they're not cheap sad.gif

hit up nathan on here. he's selling a mtx 8100d amp for very cheap for what it is. if your looking for an amp, there arent many out there that can compare to that amp. but warning, either keep that gain at the most minimum spot, or get sum good HIGH RMS sub's, cause that amp is a 1500 watt rms amp.

Well Jeison let me know if you need any help in system design etc.

Anyways with 1800 RMS, and Ultima Red$150, and a 12F Cap, if system is pulling upwards of 170+amps the lights will dim slightly. As for ground wires idk yet, that is this weekends project to install and will let you know how much it helps.

Also you should not exceed the gain on the amp anways once you set it in reference to the low/high output rca voltage from the head unit.

- audiobahn amps are way OVER priced (all the chrome and flames and shit) but they are stupid loud
- audiobahn subs are great value and the one i had was great sub
- audiobahn decks ............. lmao.gif junk

- alpine amps well i havent ever had one so i cant say
- alpine subs hit allright, i know a few guys with them and some hit and others dont so i guess its all in the amp
- alpine decks are nasty if u get a nice one because of all the options and the sound quality of the deck

just my 2cents based on personal experience
