I believe this is how you bridge a Rockford amp use the left side pos. and the right side negative.

You are right this is what you will see on a 2 channel Fosgate amp
+ - + -
You want to hook it up this way for bridged into one channel

Weird when I put the post up it erased the spaces so I will do it this way
+ - + -
now just erase the - and + marks in the middle and that is how to bridge the Fosgate

if you click on db monster or any of the boxes at the bottome (must have adobe acrobat) then you can see they provide a wiring diagram.

per there info. if i have two 4ohm subs. i can wire it make a 1ohm load or a 4ohm load. im not guessing and i dont know. im just saying what jl said. ok. so with that...

which would be better? a 1ohm or 4ohm? rockford is rated at 2ohm load. so that wouldnt work well. unless i got more subs to make it a 2 ohm load.

DO NOT UNDERLOAD YOUR AMPLIFIER. Running below the rated impedance is a bad thing. The distortion levels will raise dramatically, and you will probably end up damaging the speaker, the amp, or both.

Is that amp rated to 2 ohms mono, or 2 ohms stereo? 2 ohms stereo, 4 ohms mono is a common configuration. In which case, I'd recommend that you wire each sub to present a 4 ohm load, and run it that way.

2 ohm mono or 2 ohm stereo? damn. ok im confused again. but anyways...ok fucc rockford. im not going with them. unless someone can explain a very safe way of hooking everything up and working fine. heres the info

rockford 800.2 says
200 W X 2 @ 4 Ohms RMS @ 1% THD

400 W X 2 @ 2 Ohms RMS @ 1% THD

800 W X 1 @ 4 Ohms Bridged RMS

400 Watts RMS

rockford 400.4 says
50 W X 4 @ 4 Ohms RMS @ 1% THD

200 W X 2 @ 4 Ohms RMS @ 1% THD

100 W X 4 @ 2 Ohms RMS @ 1% THD

600 Watts RMS

now if i can only wire up my speakers to produce 1ohm load or a 4ohm load can i hook this up right? my components and 6x9 are all 4 ohm load. the subs hold 250 W RMS

my first intention was to get the rockfords. but now everything seems so complicated. i might just stick with jl audio amps but theyre expensive.

so does the amp specs have to match perfectly with the sub specs.

dan you mentions 2 ohm and 4 ohm together? and what did you mean by underload? mean like getting a really powerful amp but speakers that wont handle it and using it low?

im sorry for all this stuff guys but you know systems are the only things i really dont know

How many component speakers do you have two up front and two 6x9 in the back? If you have four speakers up front for mid/treble and the two dual voice coil jls in the back. Then yes you can hook all of this up to one amp use one channel to do the jls and the other channel to wire up all the front speakers. This would be the same as having four jls and this will put you on a 2ohmn load. And on rockford amps each channel has it's own gain and frequency guage. So you can tune the front ones for mid bass/ treble and the back ones for bass.

Long,

Sorry that we have confused you so much, I know I tend to yammer on about crap smile.gif

I can give you some definite answers, but it depends on what configuration you are going with. Now you mention some 6x9's and front speakers. I was under the impression that your amp was only going to be for the subs.

I checked out the specs on those JL's. If you were to go with the 12W3-D4 which are dual 4 ohm voice coil, and the 800.2 then here is the info for wiring:

ON EACH SUB:

- There will be 2 sets of inputs, let's call the first set A and the second set B
- Run a wire from the negative input on A to the positive input on B

What does this mean? The remaining inputs (positive on A and negative on cool.gif make the sub a single 2ohm load

WIRING IN THE AMP:

Ok, now let's call one sub A and the other B

- Run a wire from the remaining + terminal on A to the left + on your amp
- Run a wire from the remaining - terminal on A to the left - on your amp
- Run a wire from the remaining + terminal on B to the right + on your amp
- Run a wire from the remaining - terminal on B to the right - on your amp

This will give the 800.2 a 2x2ohm load which according to the specs on the amp will run your subs around 400W each RMS (constant power).

IF:

You are going to be running 6x9's, mids, and tweeters, then I would say either go for something like a nice Alpine 5 channel or (if you can afford it) buy the 800.2 for the subs AND the 400.4 for the mids highs etc..

Well, hope this helps at least a little bit and doesn't confuse you any further!

Gary

I found this too:

Wiring Diagram

It shows how to make a dual 2ohm load for your amp exactly as you would for the 12W3-D4's and the 800.2.
