- Which fuse? The inline fuse running from amp to battery, or the fuse on the amp itself?
- Check your remote/signal wire. The amp shouldn't be turning on when the car is off.

Most likely solution:
Check the amp power wire and the signal/remote wire. Most likely one of those wires is crimped or exposed somewhere and touching metal. Where did you run your wires? If you drilled a hole in the firewall for your power wire, check the wire at the hole. Mine rubbed against the hole for 3 years and finally wore through all of the insulation of the 2guage wire and it kept shorting it out.

If you ran your remote/signal wire under the plastic covers next to the seat, between the door and seat, check and see if it's crimped there.

yes! do as the great ricer says! lmao.gif

hehe, anyways how long has the power cable been run? and I'm confused are you saying that the power is staying on the amp when the car is off or that it's just like it is to cause this problem.

if its the inline, like majik said it's probably shorting somewhere. if not then who knows, bad amp, poor ground, bad alt/battery? 02.gif

did you just switch amps? Like unplug one and immediately plug in another?

Your power cable (the big one running to the battery) has to be shorting out somewhere I think. The signal/remote wire should be fine. It doesn't sound like it's staying on all the time.

what size fuse is in there? 30amp?
Are you able to hook up another amp to see if it does the same thing?
Do you have an inline fuse (fuse that's inserted somewhere between battery & amp)? Does that fuse blow?

I'm not sure what would cause the fuse on the amp to blow, and not the inline fuse. Did you have this setup before hooking this amp up, or did you have to rewire it? I'm wondering if the problem is the amp or the wires.

Can you take a picture and post it?

Sounds silly, but make sure the wires are in the right holes. I've seen it backwards before lmao.gif

Can you plug the other amp up and see if it works alright? Make sure none of the wires are exposed and touching any part of the amp. If the amp cover is metal, it can short it out.

^^ As majiktib said, make sure you have the correct wires in the correct spots. One time I accidentally connected the negative to the positive and the positive to the negative terminals on the amp and it blew the fuses on the amp and my main power fuse. Thank god the amp had some great protection features, as it did not hurt the amp, amazingly lucky! I triple checked the wiring the next time and it worked fine.

Good luck with your problem. fing02.gif
