If you take a look at the picture below, you'll see a noticable difference between the dash's shine and the door's shine.

Nearly the entire dash is covered by this dull texture ever since I got it back from the bodyshop. I'm not sure if Maaco did this accidentally (not protect the dash when painting the jambs) or did something worse and tried to cover it up.

Either case, I don't want a shiny exterior and a dull interior, so I'd appreciate any help you guys can give.

I've tried regular surface cleaners and I even tried some Ultra strength cleaner for Tar, blood etc. Nothing but a thin layer of black powder on the cloth after I wiped it and the dash is still dull.

Thanks

uhm try armorall. It does make stuff shiny. OR you can be polite and call the bodyshop back and ask him if something happened. and if something did happen, maybe he will know of a good solution to fix the problem. But try the armorall first, I know that its not every1s first choice but Ive seen the shine itll put on a dark interior. Hope this helps man. the exterior is too hot to have something wrong with the interior!

I am taking it back. Ofcourse, they are going to deny anything (being MAACO), so I am preparing myself for the worst.

Let's assume that they are not helpful (and threatnening and all that good stuff fails), what next?

Am I screwed?

Armorall is a very temporary detailing solution and will be a last resort. I am looking for a cleaning product or service that can fix this.

are you talking about the part with the airbag next to the door? where is the black powder?

when they were painting my car some extra paint went in between the doors but that's meaningless. if you're certain, go back and have them clean it off.

Yep, I am talking about the dash.

I have owned this car for several thousand miles. It has never looked like this.

Well from what I've heard about MAACO paint jobs that was probably your first mistake, but definitely go back and tell them they messed up. It might help to bring a "before" picture with you when you go, either your own or I'm sure theres a nice picture on the forum somewhere.
