Winterizing ur car
<span style="font-size:36pt;line-height:100%"><span style="color:blue">IT'S COMING... </span></span>
and here in the lovely state of New York, we have pretty rough winters. I made her go through last winter, being one of the worst ever recorded (snowfall), and i don't think im gonna put her through it again with everyone saying that this winter is going to be MUCH WORSE!!
What do you guys do?
Any recommendations on some things i can do before i put her to sleep? (The salt on the roads here kills ur fing car!!) I was gonna order a car cover from ebay, and just park it. Will it be ok to be parked for 4 or 5 really cold months, possibly with snow piled on the car...?

Americans lol.gif what are we gonna do with you.....
You have a hint of a winter and you think it's rough....the worst part of your winter is on a daily basis here (Quebec, Canada). A friend of mine from New York came here, he did not believe it.
As for the car, the best is to store it in a heated shelter or parking.

Ain't that the truths! lol.gif
Come to Winnipeg, I'll show you snowfall!
But if you are storing it.
-Pull the battery, put it in a nice warm place inside.
-Oil change before you put it away and when you bring it back to life in the spring.
-Put some stabil in the fuel.
-If you can use jackstands so your tires are off the pressure and you won't get flat spots.
-If you can get it in a heated garage, that would be better.
-If you have it outside, get a NICE car cover for it.
Oh yeah, if you do store it insides, plug up your exhaust pipe, mice have know to go inside wink1.gif

I would also fill up the tank to the top. Reduces fumes (which are explosive) and keeps condensation from forming.. water in the fuel makes for shitty performance and eventual rust in the tank.
Might want to consider something like baking soda inside the car to control humidity and smells.

great, thanks for the tips guys!!
Hopefully she'll be in better shape after this winter, than last winter...
I got her stuck in 3 different snowbanks, etc. Luckily, no accidents, a few close calls tho.

Ok i';m from ny, and the worst winter we've ever had was blizzard of 96' 3 1/2 feet of snow!! but anyways the winters here in ohio are must worst, but lucky for me (not really) i didnt have to drive it last winter, becasue of the whole crashign thing, it sat outside my apartment for 5-6 months all i did was car cover it, and let it sit, it was hard seeing my baby the covered in snow. so i went and bought a $500 beater truck which i ransacked ohio with!!! lol.gif 8) my tib has NEVER been driven in snow before. BASICLLY what i'm trying to say is just put a car cover over it, and start it once a week, and you will be fine!
You might also try hitting up a marina. Boats generally get winterised,, I know they make sone specialised foaming oils you shoot down the spark plug holes to keep the pistons and the chamber clean and lubed..
If you do not want to go that route.. I would suggest going out once a week and starting her up... if you got the wheels off the ground and the car is secure, you could even put her in gear and let her idle with the wheels spinning to keep the tranny in top shape..
Just remember though, not letting her get totally up to running tempeture just builds up condensation in the exhaust and crankcase
