Default top recorded horse power for a 2.0 beta engine?

hey guys i have a quick question...
does anyone know the highest horse power ever produced by a 2.0 beta? and if you could tell me the mods that were done to that specific engine that would be great.

Cheuk posted a dyno of one that made around 630WHP that was stuffed into an Accent.

He can give the better specifics, but it went something around this:

Hella low (7:1 guessing?) compression pistons
T66 turbo or thereabouts, custom manifold
Aftermarket rods
Hog-ported (way oversized, race-only) head
Standalone engine management (it wasn't a Haltech, becuase the fuel curve was very poor)
Something around 850-1050cc injectors

There was also word of a shop doing an 800+WHP BETA, I haven't heard much on that yet. The buildup would be essentially the same...

These motors make power only at the very TOP of the RPM band because of the size of the turbo. A T66 on a 2.0L displacement makes it spool only after a LOT of exhaust has passed!

OOOH, is that a dare?

hahah j/k... Don't I wish. I might be able to hit the 550WHP mark (theoretically) if I load the car up with some VP118 and start spraying. I don't think I'll try that just yet tho wink

I mean, at some point common sense has to kick back in

Red,

With your current setup... and with a bigger turbo and bigger injectors... I see no reason why you couldn't hit 600 wheel hp with lots of boost and some VP16. But I understand that around 400 streetable, reliable hp is enough for you.

The highest numbers I have seen are around 590-610 wheel hp... there are probably 5-6 Betas that make this much power here in Korea. They all use different ECU's Motec, Haltech, SDS. They all use around 1000 cc injectors and a HUGE turbo but otherwise very similar to what RED will be using... forged pistons, forged rods, hand bend exhaust manifold, stand alone ECU, huge fuel pump, lots of head porting, bigger cam....

Still no word on the 800 hp car... They are still working on putting it together... My guess is that it will also be spraying in order to reach this number. The next drag race is on March 17... we'll see what shows up.

well technically its unlimited. This L33T honda dude told me that if you keep putting Type R stickers on your car, it'll add 50whp each time wink

LOL @ Cheuk...

Yeah, I think I'll probably draw the line around 325-350 for the street use. But if I'm at the track? I'm still considering strapping on a direct-port setup and spraying my way into the 500WHP area while at the strip.

Guess we'll see, huh?
