the installation of the entire setup required no modification to the car at all. It was a simple bolt on. It should be noted, when installing the header, just save yourself some back ache and remove the passenger side electric radiator fan, and remove the water pump as well.. just move it over a bit it's not that big of a deal.

that plate you are talking about the stock cat bolts up to is a support, and helps keep your exhaust on and stable.. i don't see why you would remove it, it bolts right onto the race "cat" / test - pipe

All in all really nice stuff.

Watch out if the set comes with a racing cat because that translates to an empty pipe that is actually just a spacer. A high quality hi-flow cat is going to be at least 125.00 . I know I thought I was getting a cat with my headers. Keith

125 for a cat is NOT a bad price... especially for a high flow one.

Not trying to hijack but i also bought and tried to install the 4-1 with the SS catback as well as the test pipe (temporarily) and it seems like i have a BIG problem-- i dont know if anyone can help but my O2 sensor (1st) doesnt fit in the pre-drilled O2 bung which is a BIG issue. Other than thta maybe its my/the shops fault but i need help... seriously. Also I did like the quality and speed of it just it isnt perfectly secure and it is LOUD... any help is appreciated. thanks

You get the dead post revival of the week reward....but good going on researching!!!!!!!!!!

In your case with a short ram I would leave it on. If you take it off, you will release more heat in the engine back that will get sucked straight into your intake....lowering hp. (not to mention they are a pita to take off).

Voidd... the bolts that hold in the heat shield... what do they bolt into? I'm tempted to take the heat shield off just to look at the headers and to maybe sand 'em down a bit (to get some of the rust off) but wasn't sure how much of a PITA it would be?

I started at the first page looking at this thread and saw it was from WAY BACK WHEN... I was about to flame on someone, but this was alright. Patsims, thanks for searching to find a topic that related to your question. I was going to tell you to take the heat shield off, I couldn't see it hurting anything, but if you do have a Ram Air Intake as it says in your signature, I would keep the heat shield on. Taking the shield off will cause your intake to suck up hot air almost non-stop, which may make it more reasonable to put your factory air box back in. (don't do that, just keep the shield on. it'll look better also, it hides the rust wink.gif)

No Majik, leave it on. They bolt directly into your exhaust manifold and one bolts to a metal strap that holds it on in case the other bolts snap or come out. The exhaust manifold doesn't look that much like a header and is huge and ugly!! I stripped the one that bolted to the metal strap and tried so hard to get the other ones out that I literally bent the heat shield. I had to just give up trying to get most of them out and bent the shield back enough to be able to get the manifold off to put my header on.....just my 2 cents but I would not take it off unless you are putting a bigger radiator in and need to or you are getting a header on. wink.gif
