yah, I once thought that this would be a good idea but the cost vs. end result just isn't worth it in my mind 02.gif

Excuse me but I DONT HAVE TO cater to your personal etiquette of what I should and should not ask. I don't break the site rules and don't do shady business in the site.
And my remarks were based on the photos you provided, which in none of them appears a FULL ROLLCAGE. No amuont of rollcage can return the stiffness to the unibody if you remove one of the most stressed components of the unibody.
If you put a convertible BMW M3 up on a lift you will what they have to do to the underbody of that car to come close to the stiffness of the unchopped unibody.
Also the car looks stupid as it is. When they make it an offense to post a semi snobbish post I'll say I'm sorry and it won't happen again.

yea... I agree on it not looking good on the RD... I didn't think it looked good on the Supra or the MR2 either... as far as I am concerned, ONLY three cars looked good as a targa.. and two of them were designed that way from the beginning:
The Porsche 914 914/6 and the 916 (very rare that last one)

I had a yellow one just like it!
The Fiat/Bertone X 1/9

Neat little cars.. hard to work on though because they make an accent look huge!
And the seventies Vette with the targa top:

I agree.

He is a moderator for this site and is doing his job. If you want to ignore his comments, fine. But don't be pissed off at him when you have to deal w/ the consequences....you brought it upon yourself.

Really, want to go read them again???
here are a couple that you just broke.

4. Keep it clean. By law you must be 13 or older to register without a parent's consent, <span style="color:red">but we must maintain a civil environment.</span>
11. If you have a Gripe with a Moderator or SITE ADMIN, <span style="color:red">PM them and talk to them like adults.</span>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (tibu971.8L)</div><div class='quotemain'>and don't do shady business in the site.</div>
WTF is this coming from.......Go do some research.
Tibby01 does NOT do shady business. He does very good work, and if something goes wrong, like one thing that happened recently to REDZMAN's heater controls, he was quick to fix it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (tibu971.8L)</div><div class='quotemain'>When they make it an offense to post a semi snobbish post I'll say I'm sorry and it won't happen again.</div>
I suggest you do so now.
...........
back to topic....I dont like the way it looks, but i saw this on HP a long time ago, and have to give the guy props on the effort he put into his tib. And i also have to agree w/ Mad that there are very few cars that actually look good w/ T-tops.
I agree.

Just for the sake of commenting...
Tanc, I say if you thinks its hot and have the moeny for it... go for it doode!
No one liked the way my interior look ( LOL ) but I get nothing but compliments on it... its your ride, and you have to deal with what you do with it.
Other than that, Im not gonna say whether I like it or not... but its up to you. wink.gif

well i wouldnt call it the best looking tiburon i've ever seen... but i do give the guy props on being original...
I would say it takes quite a bit of courage to chop a big ol section out of your roof... i dont think it looks that great but hey, if he likes it... more power to him.
as for remarks on the car... hey everyone has their own personal opinion... dont take it too far though... tibby01 will be on ur ass laugh.gif
you should respect your moderators... for they keep the site running... without them most likely this and other sites like it would be shut down

well.. I do have to admit.. it would be a show stopper... but that is the only reason I would chop the top on a coupe.. like the RD done up before.. you are looking at adding weight to the car to make up for the loss of structual integrity, unless the car comes as a convertable or a targa/t-top.. I would venture to say it is not worth it if you want it to be a performance car.. Even Lancia.. when they converted their Beta Coupe into a targa.. (A rather neat one too.. the rear window was fabric and dropped like a convertable) had to install "beams" that ran from the remains of the top to the windsheild to retain some of the coupe's stiffness.. and even with that, the car never received the performance upgrades it's sister coupe did...
