I replaced the XD head gasket with the stock head gasket and my oil leak went away. keep in mind i tried 2 xd head gaskets with brand new bolts each time and both leaked.

however after replacing the head gasket and having no leaks the car will idle fine and sometimes stumble on acceleration.
It is right around 2,000 rpm if i gas it a little more it will push through it and start running normal.

I havnt checked compression yet, but will tomorrow. I feel under the impression that with the small amount of compression change with the stock head gasket that these "magic grooves" are now causing a mis-fire in cylinder number 2.

I replaced the injectors with know good injectors.
Tried swapping tps's didn't really do anything to my knowledge.
the only noticeable thing that changed the problem was resetting the computer. Which before resetting the computer the car would not idle at all and choke under any throttle, and with it now reset it seems like the symptoms are much milder. however it seems as if when this mis-fire occurs that it sounds like when you would hit fuel cut off.( just a small stumble)
and yes the computer threw a code giving a mis-fire on cyl 2

Checked spark plugs and they are slightly tan with no soot or oil or residue.

Timing is correct(100% positive) first thing i checked.
all connections are made and the computer is a known working computer as well.

all info is greatly appreciated

Hi
I havn't been on the forums for a while but I done singh grooves on my Tiburon a few months ago with no problems on my car at all. I did do a DIY on the subject too.

Firstly, why do you have an oil leak?

Have you grooved into the gasket part of your cylinder head?
Are all your grooves relatively the same depth and size on all 4 cylinders or have you done something different on cylinder 2?

My hunch says you are looking the wrong direction. If clearing the computer makes it run better it's very likely not a mechanical problem. Did you replace the plug wires recently?

Could be your TPS finally on the way out too. Hell, could be a lot of things.

It sure could. My guess at the wires is partially because it seems the only time my plug wires fail on this car is when I've been removing/installing them.

Check the wires out first. Pull and inspect them, especially the one on the misfiring cylinder, and inspect for rubbed or white spots (signs of arcing) or pinholes (insulation failure).

I ran in to this when i first put in my megaquirt. Around 1800ish rpm id get a little rev limit chug and then rev through it but it made taking off from a start hard because it would almost try to die. My problem was my msd dis plus 4 box ,it only amplifies spark above 3000 rpm and the megasquirt signal was too weak to spark it right so i had drop out, is what was happening . I finally traced it back to the factory crankshaft position sensor it should read between 450 kohms 550 kohms and mine was around 865ish ,so i changed it out. New one in place and the stumble was later in the rpm range around 4500 now. The wiring was picking up noise from the engine bay . So i put a 10k ohm resistor in line with the ckp sensor and it got read of the stumble altogether. The purpose of the 10k resistor is to help clean out the random noise that can give the engine a bad ckp signal. Ours works by producing voltage as the teeth on the crank timing gear move by it. The faster the engine is reving the more voltage the ckp will produce but any extra electrical noise can alter the voltage or cause it to drop out all together. Anyhow that was my fix hopefully its relative to your problem .
