I bought some spectra rotors a while ago under the recommendation that they work with the XG brake upgrade. Mine are way too small (275mm, vs. the 303mm for XGs) but like a fool I didn't to the research and got burnt $150 for these damn things. When I install them the pads tilt a few degrees, causing the caliper pistons to tilt slightly (asinine tolerances in the casting) which breaks the rubber seal and leaks fluid everywhere. However, correct me if I'm wrong here, but would these not work with the GK brakes? 280mm rotor stock, so they shouldn't have much of a problem.

 

the xg comes in 2 different size rotors mang, it should work just fine if you have the right caliper/brackets, there is a 10.8" setup and a 12" xg setup. make sure you have the right bracket

The GK Tibs use a 280mm rotor on the stock unit. The Spectras are 275, a 2.5mm difference in radius so the spectra rotors should work with GK caliper. Except in the form of a a question?

I'd say not, if the pads demand a 300+ mm rotor, going between 275 and 280 won't make them fit

 

You ran into the same problem that I did honestly.. From what I know, the calipers from the 02-05 XG 350 are dual caliper and virtually the same but the only thing that is really different is the brackets that come with them. If I'm not mistaken, you need the brackets for the 02-03 years but don't hold me to that. Also, if you bought the rotors for the Kia Spectra 5, you have the right ones and will just need to get the right brackets. I ended up getting my brackets off of RockAuto fyi. I have a post on the forums detailing like the exact same problem. I'll try to find it for you.

I read a lot of threads and like SpoolinShark said they list all years of the XG350. But if I had looked at webtech It lists the rotor sizes and while the 2005 XG shares shares a cliper part number, like Faith said earlier the rear bracket is different allotting a logger rotor. It was more misinformation.

Plus I bought these 2 years ago, I've squirreled away a few things for my most recent upgrade because I couldn't afford the down time back then. Turns out they won't take back rotors that are that old.



My solution:

Picked up some 12" rotors for the 2005 XG and drilled in the 4x114.3 pattern. Shouldn't be a big deal for now. After the motor swap I'll probably run some semis, but on stock power and auto there's no need.

 

What kind of costs is it to upgrade to the 12" XG calipers, rotors, and brackets? And what is the size for the rear set up? I'd be interested in doing a complete swap front and back but it its going to cost a grand or more, then I'll stick with my factory sized slotted rotors from ebay
