Well I was driving around this morning getting an oil filter and when I got home I popped the hood just to look around. I put my hand on the CAI and damn that was frickin' hot. I couldn't keep my hand on it for more then 3 seconds.

Does that seem normal after 30 min of driving? Give me you feedback.

By overheating you mean you it goes to HOT on your cluster?

What kind of CAI do you have.

The CAI is connected to the TB, to the IM, to the head, so of course the heat is going to transfer to all those metal parts.

That, combined with the general air temperature under the hood, would be my explaination as well.

Everyone seems to rave about the effectiveness of spacers. I have one. In theory, it would work. Jury's still out though.

I don't know why intakes aren't made of high tolerance plastic. I know Iceman intakes are. But not for our cars 02.gif

It's called thermodynamics... the energy (in the form of heat) travels from hotter items to colder items, until all items are at the same temperature (actually more than temperature is all the items have acumulated the same amount of energy in the form of heat), that's why you don't find one object on the environment that is at 40°F when everything else is at 75°F, and if you do (like an iced coke for ex) in time energy will flow to it until it reaches air temperature.
So, your CAI temp is normal as has been said, I just wanted to point out why you shouldn't worry.
Also, the overheating problem MUST BE something else, it can't be related, but anyways, check your IAT sensor, it must be correctly plugged in the CAI, and also check that thread from MajikTib, it will give you the right ideas as for what to check.
