It starts easily. It idles nicely. It revs nicely. But......

It surges when I accelerate in gear. Like it is starving for fuel - which I am pretty sure it isn't.

Take a look at the intake components that came with the car (I am lost)

I am a little bit over it at the moment - Its doing my head in.

The one in your hand seems to be the oil pressure sender connection.

 

which plugs in where?

 

Looking at the exhaust side, go about 2 inches up the right hand side of the block, next to the transmission, right near the crank sensor.

Should be easy to find now that you're looking that far down the engine block, since I expect before you were looking on the top end due to the wire's general area.

 

Nope. I was pretty sure that the two sensors on that side of the block were connected, but I went and had a quick look anyway. And no free connections down there.

i think that thing you're holding (first pic) goes very near and a little bit underneath the throttle body. 300D50 is correct that it looks like the oil pressure sensor but its location in the harness really reminds me of the plug i recently cleaned when my car was surging like yours.



like you, my car was idling and driving well until it suddenly lost power and surged on and off while the road. car finally died and wouldn't start. the symptoms you're describing is how my FX also behaved before it finally wouldn't start after dying at an intersection.



my FX is now dead but i'm working on it. dunno if that plug actually has something to do with what happened to my tib.

EDIT: Btw, the plug connects to a flat metal male counterpart. i'd like to take a pic of it but the tib's in the shop..

I read your thread and sounds like you have some big issues to contend with, good luck, mate.



I will have a dig tomorrow and see if I missed something under/behind the intake manifold. Otherwise I might have to follow in your footsteps

It sure does look like the oil pressure switch connector. It does look similar to one of the starter motor connections as well.



I don't have an engine bay that I could scour for you man, sorry.
