Powdercoating is just for looks though, remember that, it may help protect stuff a bit, but it's got NO thermal help in it at all.
Look into Ceramic coating, and keep the HEAT out.

Actually Redz.. it will protect stuff a LOT if done correctly. You are right about the heat. It is not an insulator, just a really thick coat of paint you have to use heat to melt it onto the surface you are painting.

how much does ps cost?? I looked into ceramic one time, it was like 200 for headers alone.
http://www.jet-hot.com/ <--does ceramic, very good customer service, sent me an info video and stickers and such for free. laugh.gif
oh and redz, ps is for rust protection as well... just a step up from a can of krylon laugh.gif holds awesome though, thats what they use to paint dirt bike frames, my 83 honda's paint is still shiny laugh.gif

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CyberShark)</div><div class='quotemain'>You're probably better off buying headers that are already ceramic coated.</div>
well for cheaper maybe, but alot of the pre coated headers are crap... little more than paint. jet-hot is what top fuel dragsters use.

I don't know If I'd go to the extent of buying the equipment, but I have planned on PC for a while. Went to a auto swap meet in Michigan like 4 years ago and saw a guy that will PC just about anything 8O Man that stuff was gorgeous! Def better than paint. If I pull my engine to replace the internals with performance parts, the block is gonna get PC. Along with anything else I can get done! laugh.gif
