This morning when i started my car, it started to idle kinda funny. it will be at lik 800 then will go 1000 and back to 800 and so on an so on.. if i give it gas it revs normal but once i let off it still does it... if i just let it sit it stops.. but sometimes its not only when i just started the car, it will sometimes do it at a light after it already warmed up.. suggestions?

My does this too on and off. It could be that the TPS sensor is acting up. On mine it only occurs every now and then and it is usually when I have downshifted into neutral and am coming up to a light. You could unscrew the TPS (on the side of the throttle body) and spray it out with compressed air and then reseat it and see if that fixes the issue.

It is your Throttle position sensor. I have lived with mine doing that now and again for the last 50,000 miles. It just has not irritated me enough yet.

Your idle control actuator could be a little gummed up and cause something like this. One of mine would idle up hard (around 2k) and was slow to drop to normal when first started. Once it warmed up it would idle down but wanted to surge. I pulled it off and cleaned it out good with carb cleaner and she likes it a lot better now. Idles smoothly and drops down a lot quicker.

thanks for the info, actually I got a cel a while back and the autozone people said it was tps, so i told them to reset it and I'd come back if the light did. nothing yet but i still have the idling issue. I'll have to try this out the next time I do an oil change. laugh.gif
