Default Low Fuel Light?

When does the low fuel light come on? I thought the 01 tib's had a 14 gallon gas tank? The most I've ever filled up was today at just under 12 gallons...and no low fuel light came on.

Maybe my gauge is screwed up cause I was on the lowest E line...thinking I would run out of fuel at any time. Are your gauges the same as that?

a gas gauge is not really exact. I would guess the light comes on when there is a gallon or so left in the tank??? Maybe your light is burnt out? Either way, don't depend on the light or the gauge.

It's about a gallon left. Something like 20 miles' range. Your needle will be WAY below "E" first.

Okay, so the needle goes below E before the low fuel light comes on? Thanks.

A gauge is only as accurate as it is calibrated. I replaced the gauges and had to place the needles back on to where I thought they were originally. Had I been off, it would have read differently. I think the most I ever put in the tank was 16.x gallons, but I may have been bone dry. I had a few close calls, and it's been several years, but I would think squeezing 15 gallons into a semi-empty tank should be easy. How close is your needle to the F when you fill up?

Everytime I fill up I just barely touch the top of the fuel gauge scale (don't go past it ever). Going off of my past fillups I imagine I would need to be completely below the E before the light came on. Thanks.

If you want to know for sure, just drive around until the light comes on. It's not an OMGENDOFWORLD light, it's a 'get to the nearest gas station soon' light. No big deal.
