Finally the winter is over and I'm working on the Coupe a lot

It was the clutch first and I'm not using ceramics anymore unless I go turbo. 10K-12K km and it was done. It was perfect for launches, but I'm not a fan of drag racing anymore...and lets my honest N/A Tib is not the best weapon of choice

Bought new Valeo and I think it will be ok for everyday use and some track days. ( No hard launches )

You can see the damage on the flywheel and pressure plate from the ceramic pucks !!!

As we all know the brakes are not that great and I decided to go with the famous XG BBK Bought used calipers from XG30 2001 and they are dual piston. They were the only once I could get and not in the best shape , but I did my best to restore them.

My car is 1997 Coupe and the rotors are captive ! Some really stupid sh*t if you ask me !!! Bought hubs from 2001 Coupe and I'm in the process of make them like new. New wheel bearings and so on.

Today the weather was great and got some beer, so I tried to make some brake ducts. It's not finished yet, but will finish it when I'm changing the hubs, rotors and calipers.

My aim is to finish everything during the spring and go do some track days

Hey f*ckers

found beta 1 head for dirt cheap and I want your advice if I should buy it or search for beta 2 head ?

My idea is to port it and polish it very good. Will take my time and do it perfect, cause I don't have to rush it. When the head is ready will just swap it for a weekend.

I want to modify the exhaust cam and use it as intake, shave the head and change the ITB setup a bit. I want to break that 200hp barrier really bad !!!

What about oversized valves ?

If you have first hand experience please share it

The word online is, the 2nd generation head is a better casting to begin with, which may be why it flows better. I've been elbows deep in a Beta 1 head and it was *not* a good casting. Apparently it was hit-or-miss with them. Plus the solid valvetrain (vs. hydraulic) should be good for higher engine operating speeds. You're going all-out on this, may as well go for the later head. Perhaps take the time to practice your porting technique on the head you just acquired?

Oversize valves are gonna cost and not get you *very* much, but that's your judgement call to make.

Yeah, but the results that I saw somewhere here were not good to say the least! Talking about Beta 2 head swap. I'm not going to rev it past 7000rpm , cause with my setup the peak hp is around 6000rpm and torque peak is 5000-5200rpm.

If beta2 ports are bigger that will be huge advantage.

I have 8 injectors from Suzuki GSXR 1000 K5 and I think I will use 4 of them when change the current ITB setup. Rated 320cc will be perfect for my purpose

Tonight will search, read and soo will decide which road to take

The 2003 head with non-CVVT is what you want. It not only has cleaner castings, but larger intake ports. The valves are the same, so no advantage there, but the ports are a little smoother.

Cool! Thanx for the advice

So 2003 Tib non CVVT or 2002 Elantra , right ?

What do you think about shaving the new head ?

Shaving? You mean for higher compression? Might as well a little since you need to be sure you have a flat surface during install.

I thought Blitz already had a ported Beta 1 head...
