replace it with a 2.0L beta.
tongue.gif wink
The same mods you do to a 2.0L.
CAI
Bored TB
Bored Intake Manifold
Headers (if you can find them or stomach the costs for custom made)
slighly larger exhaust
Head/port/combustion chamber work.
Nitrous Oxide

Gee. Wow. No suprise there.
I thought that the 1.6 Beta is a Beta? Would a 1.8 or 2.0 exhaust fit my engine?
If I go the 2.0 route, I'll go the turbo route. I'm exploring another route like Tasos.
Speaking of Tasos, where is he and his dyno sheet? wink

Hi there,
I recently met Tasos to a meeting that we had here in Greece, and ill tell you one thing guys....His car can kick asses!!!
He showed taillights to an audi TT coupe(180ps)in front of my eyes...
I think his project is being developed by the National Technology University of Athens...
wooo and the cars noise didn´t even sound like a hyundai. It reminded me the sound of a heavily modified v-tec motor......

latraluvr, I am in a similar position as you are, and I tell you, I'm getting a 1.8 Beta to start with (it was impossible3 to find a 2.0 Beta here). The point is, almost anything you can put in a 2.0, can fit your 1.6, BUT the 1.6 breathes less air, so an exhaust for 2.0 would be in the best case, just over dimensioned (maybe you don't loose performance, but your gains will be proportional to your HP). If you're going to invest in mods, better get a stronger engine to start with (the 1.8 is like 12-14 HP stronger) and if you apply the mods to the 1.8, you'll get more. I don't know in Phillipines, but a used engine shouldn't be too expensive if you're planning on doing serious mods like turbo.

the 1.8 and the 2.0 share the same block, so why won't it fit?</div>This is about the 1.6L, not the 1.8L or 2.0L.
Why won't "what" fit?

A Beta is a Beta, so why parts from the 1.8 or 2.0 wont fit in my 1.6?</div>The 1.6L has a smaller bore, and shorter stroke, so not all parts for the larger bore and longer stroke motors work.
The headers MIGHT work, but for a 1.6L I would not reccommend anything larger than a 2" inner diameter exhaust. I'm also not 100% sure that the bolt patterns on the 1.6L exhaust and intake manifold are the same as the 1.8L/2.0L. At $350-$450 for a set of headers, that is an expensive thing to buy if they don't fit your bolt pattern. Maybe you can work out a deal with SR to buy a set of headers and be able to return them if they do not fit.

Hey random, if you have a B16 in your car, would you put in 2" pipes?
I could get custom headers for around $100 but they are crush-bent. Noone is making mandrel bends here. What could I do?
Is nitrous still would be n/a? Isn't it a type of forced induction?
