Yeah, it'll work fine on the 1.8.

Yes, get a TB, the Maintec Headers, but stay away from the HKS axle back, it's a waste of money. Get the Moteria exhaust or the ARK exhaust.

Definately get the AEM.

i wouldnt have a problem getting the motoria exhaust but ever since iv started looking at parts when i got my car 3 years ago i see everywhere that the motoria exhaust sucks as far as quality goes. They rust, the black paint chips off or melts away easily, but all in all, no one likes it. and i just took a look at the ARK back real quick and it seems like it has maybe one cat or resonator and it comes with a silencer, which tells me that its a loud nasty thing. Do you think its possible/ (a good idea) to go to a midas or some shit and get them to make up a dual exhaust. Last time i was there he said he wouldnt advise that i do it unless i had engine work done that increased the amount of air running through the engine or it would actually suck air from the head, not sure if its true but we did something like that in my physics class so im thinking that as long as i keep the exhaust outlet near the same size as the combined exhaust ports that i will have the 'optimal' exhaust tip size...anyone have any input on that?

so now im just searching for a nice exhaust, i need something with the two cats, O2 Sensors, and NOT ricey

EVERYONE here with the Moteria or ARK exhaust loves it. You are either mistaken on your exhaust (the only black one I've seen for us EVER is the Pacesetter by MONZA, and it is retarded and rusts), or very high.

NO exhausts come with a cat. Why would they? That's why they call it a CAT BACK. It goes from the Cat, BACK. Some come with a resonator to keep the sound from being too buzzy. Almost ALL exhausts these days come with silencers, that's just the way it is. The ARK isn't buzzy or too loud, but the MBRP was, that's why I sold mine.

A dual exhaust would be totally retarded on a 4CYL, you'd have a big loss of power, for no reason than to rice your car out.

As for an "Optimal Tip Size", who cares? as long as it's the size of the exhaust tubing or larger, it doesn't matter. That just depends on how much you wanna rice it out.

No aftermarket exhaust or header will have any cats. You need to buy a high flow cat and put it in place when you get the stuff installed.

So, basicly, you need to go do some searching around this site for opinions on the ARK and Moteria exhaust. Everyone loves them. I do belive they both come with the one O2 bung you need. The OTHER o2 bung is on the headers.

ok.... that is actually a GOOD thing.. but I would not trust that guy just because of that. He obviously has no clue.

As for other exhausts being noisy thngs because they have a resonator. most cars have a reconator between the cat and the muffler. This is stock, from the factory

As for tip size.. the larger the tip, the louder your exhaust will be. once you get beyond your system size, it starts to act as a megaphone. the "melon" tips are the worst for that.

Have you ever used a perforated tip Mad? I'm wondering if a 2.5" perforated tip on the end of my 2.25" exhaust would tone it down a bit. The inside basically looks like a super thin glasspack.

YIKES!
or $15 from a junk yard...and a TPS is a TPS, new or used, just make sure to get one that says KEFICO, not DAE SUNG.
and do NOT waste $180 on this part

in fact, i might have an extra one lying around...i'll check next time i go home (but fonseca has dibs IF its a kefico) either way though, a good dae sung is just as good as a good kefico, its just the problem that dae sungs go bad more often.

for a CAI, get the AEM. you can find them on ebay for around $200, or try to pick up a used one on here for cheaper. don't settle for the cheap ebay intakes you get, it's just not worth it. plus, AEM now uses a new "dry-flow" filter, which is super easy to clean, i bought one and its a lot better than the standard cotton/gauze filters which are sort of a pain to have to clean and reoil all the time.

for headers, you can get the (overpriced imo) Maintec headers, they're expensive but are of very good quality. otherwise, the OBX headers on ebay are very reasonably priced and offer very good power gains, but they are made with a thinner steel so they cause an annoying buzz at certain rpms. i personally have the obx right now but I am waiting for the hotshot headers to be done, i've already placed an order and paid for those, so my obx headers should be for sale soon..

the airram is a very high quality piece and u get nice power gains from it, i love mine. it's a bit expensive but they turn up on ebay once in awhile, or the classifieds on this site. that's where i bought mine. you will need a bbtb to really feel this mod though.

for bbtb's we don't really have too many options (that is if you want to keep your cruise control, even the rside "twin throttle" requires modifications) but what you can do is order an extra pulley from korea for like $30 and put it on, i had this setup on an old 60mm bbtb i had and it worked great. and as redzman said, you will want anything 68mm or less to match the airram. for n/a i would reccommend anything between 61mm and 65mm, i have the 61mm and it's really nice. a bbtb is one of those mods that doesn't make a big difference at first, but once you start adding mods it helps more and more. sort of like an exhaust.

there are only 3 exhausts currently on the market for us. the motoria which you can find on ebay, the ARK, and the pacesetter which is also on ebay. the motoria is a good quality exhaust which is supposedly a copy of the MBRP, which has so far been dyno proven to net the most HP (i have an MBRP, it kicks ass, but you need to change the muffler, add a cat and glasspack to get it to sound good, otherwise its just too loud--same with the motoria). the ARK is the only 2.5" exhaust made for our cars, i've never seen or heard one personally, but supposedly they're actually pretty quiet and a very nice exhaust, better suited for larger n/a or small turbo applications (i might actually try to get one of these soon and sell my MBRP, the MBRP is 2.25" diameter). and finally the monza pacesetter, its a good exhaust but it is made out of crappy steel and rusts very quickly, so basically its a waste of money.

hope this helps.
good luck!

Thanks everyone, all this advise has really helped out. i think i may place my order for the CAI, airram IM, and BBTB soon, and ill wait to see what the hotshot headers turn out like. im also thinking of getting a resonator for my current exhaust before i get a new full exhaust. I read up on a coupla posts about glass pack resonators, and i was just wondering whats the difference between that and just regular ones??

why would you just put a resonator on a stock exhaust?? i have the motoria and love it. I had to put a glass pack in the middle of it to keep the noise down but it wasnt a big deal. anyway...

Resonator- its just a glasspack with no packing. perferated tube inside a normal tube(hollow space between)
glass pack- resonater with fiberglass, steelwool, etc between the perferated pipe and the normal one.
