Hey guys I really need some help here. I have a 1999 tiburon fx. My problem is kinda hard to describe, but here i go.

When i floor the car my engine will rev and cut power before the red line. For example, I'll shift from first to second at 6000 rpm, then in second the car will start to lose power at 5500 rpm, so i shift to third and the power cuts off at 5000 rpm, then I'll shift to fourth and power cuts off at 4500 rpm so i decide to keep it floored to see what happens. The car barely gains speed after 4500 in fourth gear....it takes about 30 seconds to rise another 500 rpm. Im trying to figure out what it is. I've been thinking that it is a problem with my injection. I will inform you that i have catback exhaust, 4-1 header, cai, and high flow cat. Can anyone help me with this problem? Will an ecu upgrade help?

On a different note, my car has been missfiring alot. In fact, about 2 weeks after i put the header on my car has considerably slowed down. I cant even chirp second gear anymore. I don't know if my fuel filter is bad or not, but im going to try and replace that. Does any one have any other ideas?

Also, does anybody know what kind of effects the 1.8 intake cam would have on my 2.0 engine. I heard it adds hp but i've been thinking that it may not let the engine rev as high because the duration is larger. Can anybody tell me if this is true or not? I've also been looking at an air ram intake manifold. Has anybody had any experience with these? How do they help performance?

Any CELs?
1st o2 sensor problem?
Clogged cat?
Plugs?
Wires?
Maybe TPS?

oh I have an airram, it's awesome. do some searching it requires a little modifying to fit, and you won't get the full potential of it without adding a BBTB as well. BTW, i have the correct hoses for sale in my FS thread too http://www.rdtiburon.com/index.php?showtopic=15623
do some searching for "airram" or "airram install"

also, yes, the 1.8 cam will increase a little HP due to displacement. do a search for "1.8 cam"

if you get an airram and bbtb you'll love the power your car puts out, you'll have the same setup as me. fing02.gif

change your plugs and wires that should stop the misfire.

if your misfiring you will be slower so after you fix that then see how it responds.

allot of people here have the air ram i have heard nothing negative about them.

thanks....what size bbtb do you have? i've looked on kspec and sharkracing and the biggest I found was 65mm....the air ram says it has an opening for 68mm....do you know where to find one?

you dont need to have a 68mm. unless you are going turbo then that maybe to big. it seems most na people go with a 58mm. Personally i am going to get a 65mm from kspec. btw i also have the airram and i love it, the sound, the power, and the way it looks in my engine bay.

first - solve your misfiring problem, I think this is causing your hp problem.

Okay, before you do anything else, go out to your car and check these things.

1. is your MAF on the right way? Check it, double check it, triple check it, quadruple check it, then take a closeup picture of it and post it here. Your MAF sensor is the tube sensor that goes between the throttle body intake elbow and the main portion of the CAI. About 3 inches in diameter. There is an arrow on it, and it should be pointing to the rear passenger side, not to the front drivers side. GO DOUBLE CHECK THIS FIRST!

2. Go look at your TPS. It's the sensor on the side of your TB facing the front of the engine. Look at it closely, what do the words say? Dae Sung or Kiefco?

3. #1 above.

4. Check your wires and your plugs. If you are misfiring, you should be getting a Check Engine Light. Go get it scanned and post the # here. If you aren't getting one, check #1 and #2 above.

5. Check #1 above.

6. Check #1 above.

haha... the arrow points the direction of air flow.

check your plugs and wires. You said it "has been misfiring"... what did you do to solve the problem? If nothing, then change your spark plugs and wires.

go to autozone, or any autoparts store, and have them read your Check Engine Light codes. They should do it for free. Post the codes on here.

What header do you have?

I have a shark racing 4-1 header. I did get a second hole drilled for the 02 sensor and it was working fine. So far i have not got a cel.
