Default Re: Short shifter question

I've been having trouble with the gas pedal sticking. It happens when the car is at a complete stop. When I give it gas, the pedal feels like I'm pushing my foot against the wall and only after putting some force into it, does it decide to go. This is embarrasing as the car will rev to 3grand and it seems like I'm trying to race the guy next to me or looks like I'm showing off. I've cleaned the throttle body with WD40 and wiped with a rag and it still dosn't work. I've also used fuel injection cleaner a couple of times with the last 6 thousand miles with no success. Any ideas??

if it revs its not your throttle pedal, if you have a manual you may want to get your clutch checked out, it might be slipping

does it do it with the car shutoff?? the best thing to do would be to work your way from the pedel towards the engine. checking all linkage and lubing everything, wd40 is great (pb blasters better!) but you might wanna get some grease at autozone. comes in a little tub and will last alot longer on that linkage than wd40.

could it be something as simple as your mat catching it??

First thought was not a good thing. I had the throttle stick on a mimi-bike......eh that's another thread. I agree with Supercow, check the floor mats. I thought I was having problems with my clutch at one point. The pedal would stick, or I'd have to give it a little bit more than average shove to make sure the shifts were smooth. Just me thinking.

OK..I checked for obstuctions and found one...there was this glue stuff wedged between the throttle body stop and the throttlebody pully spring. I removed it, cleaned it and added all purpose greased on the spring, the pully and the cable. I didn't put too much but just enough to test it. I drove it around town right now and the gas pedal moves at ease..even when it's cold. Thanks a bunch guys..I appreciate all your help..If I have any more problems with it, I'll let you know. smile.gif
