Default Gas Gauge

Hey everyone,

I've ran into a slight problem with my 2000 Tib. I filled the tank up the other day. and its only shows 2/3 full. It never seems to go down, and when it finally decreases it drops drastically. When I filled it up I even went a dollar over when the pump shut off. Any idea as to why my tank only shows 2/3 full and the gauge isn't functioning properly? Thanks

Bad sending unit, or the float is sticking.

Easy fix

The fix involves removing the rear seat, but it is easier than it sounds.

do you guys have any link to a guide on how to do it or roughly what I'm supposed to do. I'm pretty terrible with cars but I'm taking this chance to learn some stuff. Might as well try to fix this problem myself.

I could tell you how to do it in an Elantra . . . anyone with a tiburon who remembers the step by step?

Or you could go to hyundaitechinfo.com or find the archived version of webtech, where you'll likely find not only rear seat removal instructions but also fuel sender troubleshooting instructions. I forget the login for hyundaitechinfo at the moment, it's here somewhere. . .
