Well as some of you may know its been around the -35 to -40 degrees Celcius, in Winnipeg for the past week and a half, so this problem started last Thursday night, and i haven't really driven the car since then because of how cold it is.... so here is my problem(s):

I have a weird rough idle, when i pull up to a red light or stop sign it my rpms, go below 900 which is where my idle is normally at, and just jumps back and forth between 900 and id say 700 and when it does this it sounds like im about to stall, and my steering wheel as well as the entire car shakes.

There is a weird noise that comes from under the dash whenever i lift my foot off the pedal, it sounds kinda like a light growl, this has been there for a while, since it started to get cold out, i just want to know what that problem is.

I also have a CEL, but i honestly have no time to have that checked out for a while as im at work all the time right now.

I think that is all of symptoms, if i notice more in the morning i will let you all know.

I have an auto tragic tib by the way, and i have about 71 thousand kilometers on her.

o i just remembered that this happens whether or not i have the defroster or heat and all that fun stuff on, i went through each setting and number once and nothing changed

Sorry for the long read,

Cheers,
Drew

you need to check the CEL first. If you havn't checked something as simple as a CEL for free at autozone, you probly havn't been doing the required maintenance to the tib as well, like plugs, wires, auto tranny fluid, PCV valve, all that good stuff. Each one I listed would be a possible problem. You need to get on top of it.

you're in canada.. I've never been there, but I hear you have a place called Canadian Tire that checks CELs.

I have done regular maintenance, but like i said before ive been super busy with work lately, but i haven't been able to go out and check under the hood yet because its been so cold out, i also forgot to mention that when i start to go from the red light it feels like im being held back, and about to stall again, it really feels like im driving a stick, and really really bad at it. I was thinking that maybe my injectors were dirty so i am gonna go buy some cleaner tomorrow on my break, and im thinking that it is the TPS because im certain when i checked to see if what make it was like a month ago it was a dae sung, but i didn't think it would be much of a problem for a while.

Drew,
the feeling your getting about being held back at the light, sounds like the tranny is still cold. my last car that was an automatic did it as well, especiallly in this fackin cold!!! the other stuff is a crap shoot get the CEL checked then go from there..

woo hoo, there are three of us now!
anyways, most of those problems are just because it is sooooo cold out. Mine has a little bit of a weird idle as well. it actually wouldnt idle at all 1 day so I had to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running - really hard to do on a standard!
anyways, I would wait to do your own actual work on it until it starts warming up. I'm sure the problem will be gone then to.
Get the code read though, it may tell you what the problem is. I dont think we have a place that checks codes for free like autozone, (although maybe Canadian Tire does? give them a call)
If not, find a buddy with a code reader or buy yourself a cheap one.

try premium gas, mine did the same thing until i drove it for about a minute. then it stopped riding rough and smoothed out. IDK about your cel though. It was -5 here in Pittsburgh and I was told to put better gas in, so i tried and i geuss it worked! lol let me know how things work out

i thinks theres actually 4 or 5 of us now lol, Zippy1 is another Manitoba tib, then theres crash, then there was one more that i just noticed the other day but he hasn't been on that much, but anyways, yea i was kinda waiting till Friday because its supposed to be around -17, which is pretty warm compared to what it has been to check everything out myself first, but i thought id get an early start with getting everyone heres opinions on it.
